Comparison of Turkish Disability Policy, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the core concepts of U.S. disability policy
Conclusions are that Turkey's Constitution and statutes are remarkably congruent with the UNCRPD and the core concepts. They are not, however, identical. This fact suggests that Turkey can still improve its statutes to reflect more closely the UNCRPD and core concepts. The review of these policy documents suggests that there are other steps Turkey can take to improve disability policy and its implementation. They are to amend Turkey's laws, determine the status of individuals and families affected by disability, and pursue vigorous implementation of their rights. Publication date: Available online 12 January 2016 Source:ALTER - European Journal of Disability Research / Revue Européenne de Recherche sur le Handicap Author(s): Judith Anne McKenzie People with intellectual disability (ID) are defined as a group by their need for lifelong support. For the most part, it falls to family caregivers to provide this support. This paper begins with a critique of a human rights perspective in dealing with family care and argues for an ethics of care in understanding the support needs for families and adults with ID. This perspective is then applied to a study that was undertaken in 201...

Nous affirmons qu’une dialectique peut s’établir entre les visions déficitaire et culturelle de la surdité, de manière telle qu’il soit possible d’envisager la naissance d’une culture à partir de la réalité ...
