Which Medical school?
Hi! My son sat UKCAT yesterday. We live in Ireland. He's intent on studying Medicine in Dublin, also applying to UK to keep all options open. Which are the best UK colleges to apply to? Thinking of QUB, Edinburgh, Cardiff, UEA. Apparently, Irish students have a chance of getting into some colleges more easily than others! Would appreciate advice re. college selection. Also, advice re. pros & cons of ROI v. UK schools. Many thanks. (Source: New Media Medicine)

Any Chance??ty and tr
Hi So a couple of years back I got a 3rd class degree in Biomedical Sciences. I had a lot of problems during my time at uni, I was naive and thought that I could suppress them and still carry on uni as normal. However they came back to bite me and uni was a bad time for me especially during my final year. Afterwards I was in limbo, working in retail for a few months. Then I found out about the Open University . I transferred my credits towards a BSc degree from them and hope to graduate next year, hopefully with a 2.1 or a 1st. I was wondering if there is any chance of me applying to medicine. I always wanted to study me...

Uni choices with low UKCAT
Hi guys, I just sat my UKCAT test and unfortunately I got a pretty mediocre score. (Average 600). What make it even worse is that I am an international student:( Obviously English held me back in the VR section. I know my chance getting into med seems to be extremely low right now, but I still want to give it a shot. These are my intended choices: UCL(This is my dream school...I will be sitting BMAT in November) Liverpool Edinburgh Bristol I am doing International Baccalaureate Diploma in Australia. Currently my predicted score is 42 out of 45, with both Chemistry and Biology at higher level predicted to be 7 out of 7...

i realise there's a lot of these types of posts so i apologise if this seems rather mundane i'm just having some issues deciding what specialties i ought to consider and was wondering if others could provide any thoughts, tales from experience etc to help in my decision making i just graduated as a doctor in the UK and am working in my first post in a medical job (elderly) i always thought i wanted to do surgery and still am interested in the work of surgeons and the acute care of patients however during some experiences of theatre in the past i have been left daydreaming a bit. whilst i realise the role of consultant/reg...

Best Foundation School for Surgical Training?
I'm a final year medical student and am wondering where I'm likely to get information on which foundation schools provide better training for surgery/robust rotation? Or if anyone has personal anecdotes about which hospitals/foundation schools are good, I'd be eternally grateful! Thanks! (Source: New Media Medicine)

Gamsat exam 2015
Hi everyone, How did everyone find the exam? Section 1 and 2 could of been worse. Even though, writing about "art" was slightly ambiguous. Section 3, well it was section 3. Seemed different to the Irish exam. A lot more reasoning rather than learnt material needed for the UK version. A lot less physics as well! Maybe the Irish is more geared towards science grads and the UK one geared towards non science grads (humanities). (Source: New Media Medicine)

Unusual problem, need solving
Hello, I have very unusual problem. For now I study in Prague, Czech Republic in college. This college has graphics specialization and doesn't have chemistry, biology and physics. I really want to study at Medical School in England but schools there doesn't have entrance exams and relies only on A-Levels. I am studying for med school at home and I go to the preliminary course for med schools in Czech Republic. Is there any way to solve this problem? Will I have to complete another A-Levels? If I go study Med School for one year in Czech Republic, can I enter first year of Medical School in England? Please, I need your h...

Eligibility for a medicine degree - which route to take?
I am currently doing a degree in Human Sciences and got all A*’s and A’s for GCSE and ABB (French, biology and English lit – only a few UMS off A’s) in my A-levels and grade C in A’s chemistry and a D in maths. As I had extenuating circumstances (depression) when I took my A2’s I took a third year and resat 2 exams pushing my grades up to 3A’s and I studied A-level Psychology in a year getting an A* at the end. What are my options for medicine? Can I just apply to graduate entry medicine? Or can I apply for the 5yr course – as I would have to get my A-level in chemistry could I do this via distance learning/c...
