Patients risk homelessness after DWP sends GPs misleading benefits letters
GPs are being explicitly told not to issue fit notes to patients by the Department of Work and Pensions, even if there is still a chance that the decision could be appealed.  The changes to the letters sent to GPs by the DWP remove the section warning that they may still need to issue fit notes - for example if a patient is appealing a decision or their condition gets significantly worse.  This means that GPs may have been put off from issuing a fit note, even if they believed one was needed. Hide related content:  Show related contentread more (Source: Management in Practice)

Practice receptionists should provide tech support to patients, says Londonwide LMCs

The recruitment of additional healthcare professionals into primary care networks (PCNs) is‘an opportunity to build on our workforce teams and look after our patients further’, a BMA spokesperson has said. Chancellor overlooks GP pension tax allowance in Spring Budget statement

Primary care networks will not have to be led by GPs, says NHS England
Primary care networks will not have to be led by a GP, with'any clinician' in general practice able to take charge, NHS England has said.  Under the new five-year GP contract, practices will be provided with extra funding to join networks, which will see groups of practices serve 30-50,000 patients.  All networks must appoint an accountable clinical director, who will be responsible for ensuring it delivers local services, by 15 May. Hide related content:  Show related contentread more (Source: Management in Practice)

CCGs are trying to ‘manipulate’ formation of networks, BMA told

New national hotline to help homeless patients access general practice services

Practices must have input into CCG decisions as NHS long-term plan is delivered, say MPs
