Levosulpiride-Induced Restless Leg Syndrome: A Case Report
Levosulpiride is benzamide derivative, l-enantiomer of sulpiride;1 levosulpiride selectively inhibits D2 dopamine receptors in the central nervous system and gastrointestinal (GI) tract and has 5-HT4 agonistic activity. It is widely used as prokinetic alone as well as with proton pump inhibitors. D2 receptor blockade in the GI system2 and 5-HT4 agonistic action in cholinergic neurons promotes GI motility and mediates the prokinetic effects.3 Central D2 antagonistic activity is also responsible for various side effects of hyperprolactenimia and movement disorders. Levosulpiride Induced Restless Leg Syndrome: A Report
Levosulpiride is benzamide derivative, l-enantiomer of sulpiride Rossi and Forgione,1 levosulpiride selectively inhibits D2 dopamine receptors in the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract and has 5-HT4 agonistic activity. It is widely used as prokinetic alone as well as with the combination of proton pump inhibitors (PPI).
