Levosulpiride-Induced Restless Leg Syndrome: A Case Report

Levosulpiride is benzamide derivative, l-enantiomer of sulpiride;1 levosulpiride selectively inhibits D2 dopamine receptors in the central nervous system and gastrointestinal (GI) tract and has 5-HT4 agonistic activity. It is widely used as prokinetic alone as well as with proton pump inhibitors. D2 receptor blockade in the GI system2 and 5-HT4 agonistic action in cholinergic neurons promotes GI motility and mediates the prokinetic effects.3 Central D2 antagonistic activity is also responsible for various side effects of hyperprolactenimia and movement disorders.
