Metabolic Signature of Microvescicles from Umbilical Cord Mesenchimal Stem Cells of Preterm and Term Infants
Conclusions and clinical relevanceMicrovesicles from mesenchymal stem cells conduct aerobic metabolism similarly to exosomes from the same cells, with interesting differences related to their biogenesis and function. The clinical relevance of the study lays in the perspective to utilize Microvesicles as promising sensor of the inflammatory and metabolic state of the preterm newborn, to help in preventing the complications of prematurity. This article is protected by copyright. Intersection of Proteomics and Genomics to “Solve the Unsolved” in Rare Disorders such as Neurodegenerative and Neuromuscular Diseases
Abstract Despite recent rapid advances in sequencing technologies, a significant proportion of patients with rare genetic disorders do not receive a genetic diagnosis after exhaustive testing, and even fewer have a potential therapeutic target identified. Taking rare neuromuscular and neurodegenerative disorders as a paradigm that can be extended to other rare Mendelian disorders, this viewpoint explores the opportunities that are brought about by the integration of genomics and proteomics, as well as the limitations and remaining challenges of this newly emerging field of proteogenomics. The relevance of combining proteom...

PepSweetener: A Web ‐Based Tool to Support Manual Annotation of Intact Glycopeptide MS Spectra
Conclusions and clinical relevance: PepSweetener efficiently allows the selection of the most probable intact glycopeptide mass matches and speeds up the verification process. It was validated on serum protein samples and immunoglobulins. The tool is publicly hosted on ExPASy, the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics resource portal (http://glycoproteome.expasy.org/pepsweetener/app/).This article is protected by copyright.
