Tubercular Epidural Abscess in Cervical Spine Without Bony Involvement in a Patient With HIV Coinfection: Case Report and Review of Literature
We present a rare case of SEA of tubercular origin in the cervical spine without bony involvement in a patient with HIV infection. A 35-year-old HIV-positive female presented with neck pain, rapid-onset quadriparesis with urinary retention. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a cervical ventrally placed epidural collection enhancing on contrast, without bony involvement, suggestive of epidural abscess. The pus was drained through the anterior cervical approach. Histopathology revealed multiple acid-fast bacilli, suggestive of tubercular infection. The patient made an uneventful recovery after surgical decompression and antit...

Chiari Malformation Type 1.5-related Syringomyelia: Treatment Options Differentiates This New Entity From Classic Tonsillar Ectopia: Case Report
We report a case of 49-year-old woman with Chiari type 1.5 syndrome and reviewed the literature to determine the differences between the treatment options of Chiari type 1-related and 1.5-related syringomyelia. Syringosubarachnoidal shunting must be considered as a complementary treatment option for progressive worsened, symptomatic patients with Chiari 1.5 malformation-related syringomyelia in early stages. Cervicomedullary Hemagioblastoma Presenting With Subarachnoid and Intraventricular Hemorrhage in Patient With Von Hippel-Lindau Syndrome: A Case Report and Literature Review
Conclusions: HGBs is a rare cause of SAH and in patients of VHL syndrome with HGBs, SAH is extremely rare. Magnetic resonance imaging and angiogram will be diagnostic. In patients presenting with SAH with family history of HGBs or VHL syndrome, diagnosis of HGB should be considered. (Source: Neurosurgery Quarterly)

Pitfalls in Diagnosis of Intraoperative Squash Cytology of Central Nervous System Lesions: Analysis of 545 Cases From a Single Center
Discussion: We have evaluated the discordant cases in our series and discussed the diagnostic pitfalls of SSs of CNS lesions. Awareness of the potential sources of misinterpreted cases together with the combination of radiology, clinical history, and location may increase the diagnostic accuracy. Bevacizumab-related Remote Intracranial Hemorrhages After Glioma Resection: A Cautionary Note Regarding the “Safe” Cessation Period
We present a patient with multifocal intracerebral hemorrhages after surgery for recurrent glioblastoma multiforme. His course of BV was temporarily ceased 6 weeks before repeat surgery. Our experience indicates that the anti-VEGF actions of BV can persist for longer than 6 weeks, with the potential consequence of hemorrhagic CNS complications. (Source: Neurosurgery Quarterly)

Surgical Outcomes of Cervios ChronOS Cage Implantation for Degenerative Cervical Intervertebral Disk Disorder
This study describes the outcomes of CCOS for anterior cervical discectomy with interbody fusion (ACD-IBF) in patients at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Materials and Methods: Retrospectively reviewed 32 patients underwent ACD-IBF with 51 CCOS cages from 2007 to 2008. All patients had either intractable preoperative cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy for 3 months duration and underwent follow-up for >2 years. Postoperative outcomes were classified as favorable or unfavorable. Rigid bone fusion was defined as an interspinous distance ≤2 mm on dynamic lateral cervical radiographs and absence of radiolucent gaps betwee...
