Health-related quality of life measurement in chronic liver disease patients
Conclusions Quality of life instruments are potentially powerful tools for evaluating the functional status, presenting gains of treatment and reflecting patients’ ability to return to a normal lifestyle in CLD patients. More attention should be paid by clinicians for integrated use of clinical tests together with HRQOL instruments in liver transplantation for establishing the reference levels of mental, physical, and role-social functioning. Evaluation of low-dose proton beam radiation efficiency in MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic cancer cell line vitality and H2AX formation
Conclusions Our data demonstrate that low-doses proton beam irradiation had an effect on MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic carcinoma cell line. Full extent of irradiation had an impact only 24h postirradiation, triggering DNA arrested cell cycle in G1/0 phase. Formed DNA DSBs were found to be repaired via the NHEJ pathway mechanism within 72h. Unsuccessful repaired DSBs induced apoptotic cell death. After 72h reparation processes were completed, and cell cycle was released from arrest in G1/0 phase. (Source: Medicina)

Cesarean section rates in Lithuania using Robson Ten Group Classification System
Conclusions Women in Groups 1, 2 and 5 were the largest contributions to the overall CS rate in Lithuania. It seems that efforts to reduce the overall CS rate should be directed on increasing vaginal birth after CS and reducing CS rates in nulliparous women with single cephalic full-term pregnancy (Groups 1 and 2). Distribution of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in tumor islets and stroma from patients with non-small cell lung cancer in association with COPD and smoking
Conclusions According to our data, COPD but not smoking seems to be associated with higher infiltration of CD8+ T cells in the tumor stroma of patients with NSCLC. It allows us to hypothesize that NSCLC patients with coexisting COPD may have a more favorable outcome due to anticancer properties of stromal CD8+ T cells. (Source: Medicina)

Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effects of herbal preparation EM 1201 in adjuvant arthritic rats
Conclusions The present study suggests that EM 1201 has protective activity against arthritis and demonstrated its potential beneficiary effect analogical to diclofenac. Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effect of EM 1201 in rats with AA support the need of further investigations by using it as supplementary agent alone or together with other anti-arthritic drugs in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Nutritional habits among high-performance endurance athletes
Conclusions The diet of highly trained endurance athletes does not fully meet their requirements and in this situation cannot ensure maximum adaptation to very intense and/or long-duration physical loads. The diet of highly trained endurance athletes must be optimized, adjusted and individualized. Particular attention should be focused on female athletes. (Source: Medicina)
