Conclusion: Pulmonary fungal infections are resistant to treatments for hematological malignancies. Since the treatment of the underlying disease is extended and these infections often recur and are exacerbated, surgery should be considered when possible. Staged Repair of Truncus Arteriosus Associated with Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect.
We report a case of successful repair of truncus arteriosus (TA) associated with complete atrioventricular septal defect (c-AVSD) using a staged approach. TA associated with c-AVSD is a very rare congenital cardiac anomaly. No report of successful staged repair in South Korea has yet been published. We performed bilateral pulmonary artery banding when the patient was 33 days old, and total correction using an extracardiac conduit was performed at the age of 18 months. Guidelines for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in Korea: Past Obstacles and Future Perspectives.
Conclusion: Compliance with guidelines is critical for assessing the efficacy and safety of TAVR. Moreover, the TAVR monitoring process must be properly conducted for an accurate evaluation to be made. Any country planning to introduce TAVR may encounter difficulties with regards to the optimal initiation strategy and subsequent monitoring. Thoracic Scoliosis in Patients with Primary Spontaneous Pneumothorax.
Conclusion: PSP patients tend to have thoracic scoliosis more commonly compared with normal healthy adolescent. Scoliosis may contribute to heterogeneity of alveolar pressure which exacerbates subpleural bleb formation that can cause pneumothorax. Feasibility and Safety of a New Chest Drain Wound Closure Method with Knotless Sutures.
Conclusion: The results for the complication rates of this new chest drain wound closure method suggest that this method is not inferior to the conventional method. Treatment of Fungal Empyema Combined with Osteoradionecrosis by Thoracoplasty and Myocutaneous Flap Transposition.
We report the rare case of a 58-year-old woman who was diagnosed with fungal empyema thoracis combined with osteoradionecrosis. After 32 months of home care followed by open window thoracostomy, thoracoplasty with serratus anterior muscle transposition and a latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap was performed successfully. Although thoracoplasty is now rarely indicated, it is still the treatment of choice for the complete obliteration of thoracic spaces. Iatrogenic Tracheal Posterior Wall Perforation Repaired with Bronchoscope-Guided Knotless Sutures Through Tracheostomy.

The wound was immediately covered with an absorbable polyglycolic acid sheet. Isolated Unilateral Absence of Pulmonary Artery Associated with Contralateral Lung Cancer.
This report describes a case of surgical treatment of contralateral primary lung cancer in a patient with isolated UAPA. A 56-year-old man was diagnosed with primary lung cancer accompanied by isolated UAPA on the contralateral side. He underwent meticulous cardiorespiratory function tests preoperatively.
