Characterization of Venous Involvement in Vasculo-Beh çet Disease.
Conclusions: When DVT was diagnosed in patients with Behçet disease, there was no cure for the lesions. Ultrasonographic abnormalities were observed in all patients, and post-thrombotic syndrome remained to varying degrees. In cases of isolated varicose veins in patients with Behçet disease, DVT did not occur after surgical treatment. If the activity of Behçet disease is controlled, surgical correction of varicose veins is preferable. A Bronchial Lipoma: Occurrence at an Unusual Site and Its Successful Bronchoscopic Resection with an Electrosurgical Snare.
We report a case of a 42-year-old man with a left main bronchus lipoma that caused near-total obstruction. The lipoma was treated by bronchoscopic resection with an electrosurgical snare and cryoablation. Cor Triatriatum Associated with Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection: A Rare but Plausible Combination.
Authors: Lee JO, Park CS Abstract In a newborn in whom cor triatriatum was missed on echocardiography, infracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous connection was successfully repaired with the aid of cardiac computed tomography (CT). In rare combinations, as in this case, an accurate diagnosis prior to surgery, which is of vital importance for successful repair, can be made through a high index of suspicion and the use of a supplemental imaging modality such as CT. Surgical Outcomes of Malignant Primary Cardiac Tumor: A 20-Year Study at a Single Center.
Conclusions: Although surgery for malignant primary cardiac tumors has a poor prognosis, complete resection of the tumor may improve surgical outcomes. PMID: 33115972 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery)

Clinical Outcomes of Atypical Inflammatory Variants of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.
Conclusions: Patients with inflammatory abdominal aneurysms frequently develop postoperative graft complications requiring secondary surgical treatment, so they require close mandatory postoperative follow-up. Levoatrial Cardinal Vein: Occluder Embolization and Complication Management.
Authors: Mercan I, Akyuz M, Guven B, Isik O Abstract In rare cases, levoatrial cardinal vein may occur as an isolated condition without additional congenital anomalies. Depending on the direction and flow of the shunt, this pathology may produce symptoms; alternatively, it may be asymptomatic, as in the case presented in this study. In asymptomatic cases, complications, such as paradoxical embolism and brain abscess, can arise later. In the 11-year-old patient whose case is presented here, the levoatrial cardinal vein was asymptomatic and incidentally detected. The percutaneous closure method was applied f...

Quadriplegia after Mitral Valve Replacement in an Infective Endocarditis Patient with Cervical Spine Spondylitis.
Authors: Lee JM, Heo SY, Kim DK, Jung JP, Park CR, Lee YJ, Kim GS Abstract The simultaneous incidence of infective endocarditis and cervical spondylitis with an epidural abscess is rare, and quadriplegia as a complication after cardiac surgery is very rare. We recently observed quadriplegia after mitral valve replacement in an infective endocarditis patient with cervical spine spondylitis. With early symptom detection, immediate examination, and prompt surgical treatment, the patient successfully recovered without neurological symptoms. Simple Interrupted Suturing for Aortic Valve Replacement in Patients with Severe Aortic Stenosis.
Conclusions: The SIS technique for AVR was associated with a wider EOA and a lower mean PG. The SIS technique could be a reasonable option for AVR. PMID: 33115976 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery)

Robotic Intraoperative Tracheobronchial Repair during Minimally Invasive 3-Stage Esophagectomy.
Authors: Marano A, Palagi S, Pellegrino L, Borghi F Abstract Tracheobronchial injury (TBI) is an uncommon but potentially fatal event. Iatrogenic lesions during bronchoscopy, endotracheal intubation, or thoracic surgery are considered the most common causes of TBI. When TBI is detected during surgery, concomitant surgical treatment is recommended. Herein we present a case of successful robotic primary repair of iatrogenic tracheal and left bronchial branch tears during a robot-assisted hybrid 3-stage esophagectomy after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. A robotic approach can facilitate the repair of this inj...

Optimal Tricuspid Annular Size for Tricuspid Annuloplasty in Patients with Less-Than-Moderate Functional Tricuspid Regurgitation.
Conclusion: The progression of TR was not infrequent in patients with untreated lessthan- moderate FTR. An aggressive treatment approach can be helpful to prevent the progression of FTR for patients with risk factors, especially TVAI greater than 19.8 mm/m2. The Effect of Supplemental Cardioplegia Infusion before Anastomosis in Patients Undergoing Heart Transplantation with Long Ischemic Times.
Conclusion: The additional infusion of a cardioplegia solution immediately before implantation in patients with longer ischemic times is a simple, reproducible, and safe procedure. However, we did not observe benefits of this strategy in the present study. PMID: 33046664 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery)

Traumatic Tricuspid Regurgitation Treated by the Minimally Invasive Double Orifice Technique.
Authors: Lee CK, Jang JH, Lee NH, Song S Abstract A 37-year-old man was transferred to our level I trauma center after a road traffic accident, presenting with right acetabular fracture, multiple rib fractures, epidural hemorrhage, and liver contusion. Severe traumatic tricuspid regurgitation was also discovered during the work-up for surgery. Our initial attempt at acetabular surgery failed when the patient experienced near cardiac arrest during anesthetic induction. It was hence decided that tricuspid valve repair should precede orthopedic surgery. Minimally invasive tricuspid valve repair using the doub...

Percutaneous Cryoablation of Multiple Pulmonary Endometriosis.
We report the case of a 23-year-old woman who had suffered from multiple pulmonary endometriosis with frequent intermittent hemoptysis during menstruation for 6 years prior to her visit. She was treated with cryoablation at our hospital, and since her treatment, she has been doing well with no hemoptysis for at least 6 months. Although endometriosis is a benign lung disease, cryoablation is an ideal and effective treatment option for patients with multiple endometriosis. Avoiding Venous Anastomotic Dehiscence of an Arteriovenous Graft in a Super-Obese Patient.
We describe placing an arteriovenous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) graft between the brachial artery and axillary vein to avoid these complications. A 39-year-old super-obese woman with end-stage renal disease had undergone several hemodialysis access procedures on both arms. We traced the course of the arteriovenous graft course with the patient sitting and lying down. The ideal course was more accurate with the patient sitting; thus, the patient sat when the course was drawn, before lying on the operating bed. The PTFE graft was placed between the right brachial artery and axillary vein, according to the course in the o...
