Repeatability of Junctional Zone Measurements Using 3-Dimensional Transvaginal Sonography in Healthy Fertile Women
Conclusions— The junctional zone has an indistinct outline on 3D transvaginal sonography, resulting in measurement errors within a broad range of ±2 to ±4 mm, which were only reduced to some extent by average measurements. The thickness of the junctional zone varied within a narrow range in this healthy fertile population, and reliability measurements of junctional zone thickness have to be evaluated in women with a wider range of thickness. The observer repeatability and reliability of junctional zone measurements need to be further evaluated and refined before applying this method in clinical practice...

HDlive Silhouette Mode With Spatiotemporal Image Correlation for Assessment of the Fetal Heart
Conclusions— The HDlive silhouette mode with STIC provides new visual experiences for physicians, owing to the anatomically clear depiction of fetal cardiac structures, and it may be an easier way to depict the spatial relationships among fetal cardiac chambers, great arteries, and veins. Quantitative Cardiac Assessment in Fetal Tetralogy of Fallot
Conclusions— In addition to a routine anatomic examination, quantitative assessment of fetal hemodynamics, especially an abnormally high PSV in the pulmonary artery, as well as a shortened acceleration time and abnormal valve size, might be very helpful for confirmation of the diagnosis in cases of suspected tetralogy of Fallot. Utility of Shear Wave Elastography for Differentiating Biliary Atresia From Infantile Hepatitis Syndrome
Conclusions— The significant increase in liver SWE values in neonates and infants with biliary atresia supports their application for differentiating biliary atresia from infantile hepatitis syndrome. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine)

Sonography for Complete Evaluation of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Central Support Devices: A Pilot Study
Conclusions— The effectiveness of sonography was excellent for evaluation of umbilical arterial and venous catheters, endotracheal tubes, and peripherally inserted central venous catheters. These results support the goal of further point-of-care training and accreditation to use sonography as a primary modality for complete evaluation of NICU support devices. The Rapid Assessment of Competency in Echocardiography Scale: Validation of a Tool for Point-of-Care Ultrasound
Conclusions— The RACE scale provides a straightforward means to assess learner performance with minimal requirements for evaluator training. Our results support the conclusion that the tool is an effective means of making valid judgments regarding competency in point-of-care cardiac US. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Sonography in the Diagnosis of Placental Invasion
Conclusions— The diagnosis of placental invasion remains challenging on sonography and MRI, which perform similarly. The presence of 2 or more criteria adds specificity to the diagnosis of placental invasion on MRI. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine)

Improving the Prediction of Neonatal Outcomes in Isolated Left-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia by Direct and Indirect Sonographic Assessment of Liver Herniation
Conclusions— Sonographic measurements of liver herniation (liver-to-thorax ratio and stomach position) are predictive of neonatal outcomes in isolated left-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Our study shows that the combination of those sonographic measurements of liver herniation and lung size improves the accuracy of predicting mortality in those fetuses. Validation of a Novel 3-Dimensional Sonographic Method for Assessing Gastric Accommodation in Healthy Adults
Conclusions— The novel 3D sonographic method with automated acquisition showed good agreement with the current reference-standard gastric 3D sonographic method, with low intraobserver and interobserver variability. This novel 3D sonographic method is a valid and reliable technique for determining gastric accommodation. (Source: Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine)

Sonographic Appearance of the Gallbladder in the Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Population
Conclusions— Sonographic abnormalities of the gallbladder after HSC transplants are common in patients with and without HSC transplant complications and in those with biliary events. Contribution of Contrast-Enhanced Sonography With Perfluorobutane Microbubbles for Diagnosis of Recurrent Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Conclusions— Although the assessability of contrast-enhanced sonography depends on lesion size, location, and abdominal wall thickness, contrast-enhanced sonography after contrast-enhanced CT is useful for confirmative diagnosis of small recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma with an atypical enhancement pattern on contrast-enhanced CT, even for lesions measuring 1 cm or smaller in diameter.
