Work-related cardiovascular stress in orthodontists: A pilot project
Conclusions Routine practice affects the cardiovascular system of orthodontists during the working day. Lack of patient cooperation and psychological pressure from parents in the dental office may have a negative impact on the degree of circulatory dynamics. Bolton discrepancy among patients with anterior open bite malocclusion
Conclusion Even though the anterior, posterior, and overall ratios are not significantly different from control or Bolton's ratios, open bite cases require a close evaluation of tooth size discrepancy in all anterior, posterior, and total ratios to achieve ideal occlusion. Studying the prevalence and etiology of Class II subdivision malocclusion using cone-beam computed tomography
Conclusion All mandibular variables indicated greater degrees of mandibular asymmetry in the II/2 group; only condylion to pogonion proved statistically significant. (Source: Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists)

Enamel bond strength comparison of self-limiting and traditional etchant systems
Conclusion The shear bond strength of Opal Etch consistently tested higher than the Dentsply etchant, but was not found to be self-limiting. (Source: Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists)

Maxillary protraction using orthodontic miniplates in correction of Class III malocclusion during growth
Conclusions The bone-anchored maxillary protraction approach induced a significant orthopedic maxillary advancement, and retarded the mandibular growth with improvement of facial profile. Maxillomandibular divergency was increased mainly due a counterclockwise rotation of the maxilla. (Source: Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists)

Skeletal age indicator as chronological age predictor: Comparison between two methods
Conclusions Differences in skeletal age means with white individuals suggest the need of obtaining population standards separated by race and gender. Both methods are reliable as predictors of chronological age with greater accuracy of the Hägg-Taranger method. (Source: Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists)

Comparative evaluation of the shear bond strength of recycled ceramic brackets using three methods: An in  vitro study
Conclusion There was no significant difference in the shear bond strength among heat + silane group, silica-coated + silane group, or the control new brackets group. Reconditioning with silica coating using 30 μm silicon dioxide with silane application is a promising method, as it is chair-side, time-effective, and shows good comparable bond strength to that of new brackets. Three-dimensional assessment of temporomandibular joints in skeletal Class I, Class II, and Class III malocclusions: Cone beam computed tomography analysis
Conclusions There are significant differences in specific TMJ parameters between different skeletal malocclusions that might play a role in development of temporomandibular disorders with or without orthodontic treatment. (Source: Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists)

Long-term changes of alveolar buccal bone after rapid maxillary expansion in an adolescent patient
This report describes the longitudinal changes in the alveolar crest level of the maxillary posterior teeth after rapid maxillary expansion (RME) in an 11-year-old patient. This patient was included in a sample of a previous publication and initially presented with a unilateral posterior crossbite on the left side in her permanent dentition. After the RME procedure with use of a tooth-tissue-borne Haas-type expander, the patient experienced extensive buccal bone dehiscences in the supporting teeth. After expansion, she underwent comprehensive orthodontic treatment. Approximately 8 years after the expansion, orthodontic fo...

A cone-beam computerized tomography assessment of the relationship between upper incisors inclination and articular eminence features in orthodontically untreated patients with different facial type
Conclusions There are no differences between the features of the glenoid fossa and the upper incisor inclination in subjects with different facial types, as well as there is an absence of clinically relevant relationships between the articular shape and incisor inclination.
