Short ‐chain fatty acids oppositely altered expressions and functions of intestinal cytochrome P4503A and P‐glycoprotein and affected pharmacokinetics of verapamil following oral administration to rats
ConclusionsShort ‐chain fatty acids oppositely regulated functions and expressions of intestinal Cyp3a and P‐gp. The downregulation of P‐gp mainly contributed to the increased oral plasma verapamil exposure by SCFAs. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Total triterpenes from the fruits of Chaenomeles speciosa (Sweet) Nakai protects against indomethacin ‐induced gastric mucosal injury: involvement of TFF1‐mediated EGF/EGFR and apoptotic pathways
ConclusionsOur present study demonstrated that TCS ’s gastroprotective effect was closely connected with boosting TFF1 expression, activating TFF1‐mediated EGF/EGFR pathway, thus restraining mitochondrial‐dependent apoptosis, which provided new insights into interpreting its underlying mechanism and promised to act as a candidate drug to treat gastric mucosal injury. Population pharmacokinetics of cefuroxime and uptake into hip and spine bone of patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery
ConclusionEven if a majority of patients undergoing hip or spine surgery probably achieved adequate concentrations of cefuroxime, not all patients reached bone concentrations of cefuroxime above a recommended breakpoint for susceptible germs at the time of surgery. Effect of GSK ‐137647A, the first non‐carboxylic FFA4 agonist, on the osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells in db/db mice
ConclusionsAll of these results demonstrated that GSK ‐137647A suppressed the adipogenic differentiation and promoted osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs, which is partly attributed to the increased expression of β‐catenin in wingless/integrated signalling pathway. Effect of atorvastatin on A β1–42‐induced alteration of SESN2, SIRT1, LC3II and TPP1 protein expressions in neuronal cell cultures
This study was undertaken whether A β‐induced changes of SESN2 and SIRT1 protein expression, autophagy marker LC3II and lysosomal enzyme TPP1 affected by atorvastatin (Western blot) and its possible role in Aβ neurotoxicity (ELISA).Key findings/resultsWe showed that SESN2 and LC3II expressions were elevated, whereas SIRT1 and TPP1 expressions were decreased in the A β1 –42‐exposed human neuroblastoma cells (SH‐SY5Y). Co‐administration of atorvastatin with Aβ1 –42 compensates SESN2 increase and recovers SIRT1 decline by reducing oxidative stress, decreasing SESN2 expression and increasing SIRT1 expression by...
