Withanolides from the genus Physalis: a review on their phytochemical and pharmacological aspects
AbstractObjectivesWithanolides are a group of modified C28 ergostane ‐type steroids with a C‐22, C‐26 δ‐lactone side chain or a C‐23, C‐26 γ‐lactone side chain. They enjoy a limited distribution in the plant kingdom and predominantly occur in several genera of Solanaceae. Of which, the genusPhysalis is an important resource for this type of natural molecules. The present review aims to comprehensively illustrate the structural characteristics and classification of withanolides, and particularly focus on the progression on phytochemical and pharmacological aspects of withanolides fromPhysalis ranging from Ja...

A botanical drug composed of three herbal materials attenuates the sensorimotor gating deficit and cognitive impairment induced by MK ‐801 in mice
ConclusionsThese results imply that HCE ameliorates MK ‐801‐induced dysfunctions in prepulse inhibition, social interactions and cognitive function, partly by regulating the Akt and GSK‐3β signalling pathways. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)

Numerical simulations of particle behaviour in a realistic human airway model with varying inhalation patterns
ConclusionsOur results indicated that particle deposition in a realistic human airway model was promoted by a vortex formation following the terminal ‐velocity‐like breath‐holding. Moreover, the inhalation flow pattern significantly influenced the behaviour and deposition of inhaled particles in the airways. Additionally, the effect of flow patterns on the particle deposition in each airway position was quantitatively evaluated by numerical simulations for a realistic human airway model. Allosteric modulators restore orthosteric agonist binding to mutated CB1 receptors
ConclusionsBased on our findings, we provide evidence of a therapeutic application for allosteric modulators in situations where a mutation in the receptor may hinder its function. By utilizing allosteric modulators, restoration of orthosteric binding may be possible. (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology)
