A retrospective analysis of Impella use in all ‐comers: 1‐year outcomes
ConclusionFor patients with need for an Impella device, regardless of the indication, early implantation is associated with better in hospital and 1 year outcomes as compared to when the device is implanted late as a bailout. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Influence of minor deterioration of renal function after PCI on outcome in patients with ST ‐elevation myocardial infarction
ConclusionDRF identified patients at increased risk of higher long‐term mortality but was not independently associated with mortality. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Safety of orbital atherectomy in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction
ConclusionPlaque modification with OA was safe and well tolerated in patients with systolic dysfunction. In this high‐risk cohort, adverse clinical outcomes occurred more frequently than in a lower risk population. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Baseline anemia in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention after an acute coronary syndrome —A paradox of high bleeding risk, high ischemic risk, and complex coronary disease
ConclusionsPatients with anemia present with high ischemia and bleed risk scores, complex coronary disease, and have adverse outcomes. Incomplete revascularization was associated with worse survival regardless of anemia status. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Prediction of contrast ‐induced acute kidney injury by early post‐procedural analysis of urinary biomarkers and intra‐renal Doppler flow indices in patients undergoing coronary angiography
ConclusionsJoint assessment of early post‐procedural urinary biomarkers and Doppler renovascular parameters aids early diagnosis of CI‐AKI in patients undergoing coronary interventions. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

The mitral ‐to‐aortic flow‐velocity integral ratio in the real world echocardiographic evaluation of functional mitral regurgitation before and after percutaneous repair
ConclusionOur data show a close relationship between MAVIR and traditional indexes of MR severity in patients with FMR. This Doppler‐derived index seems applicable after PMVR where traditional echocardiographic index of MR severity shows significant limitations. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Comparison between imported versus domestic drug ‐eluting stents in China: A large single‐center data
ConclusionsDomestic DESs showed the same safety as imported DESs in this real‐world cohort. But, patients implanted with domestic DESs had a higher risk of revascularization than imported DESs. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Vascular access site complication in transfemoral coronary angiography between uninterrupted warfarin and heparin bridging
ConclusionsWe demonstrated that an uninterrupted warfarin strategy did not increase vascular access site complications in patients undergoing transfemoral CAG compared to heparin bridging therapy. Due to the safety and the ease of uninterrupted warfarin strategy, this approach should be encouraged in patients receiving long‐term warfarin who undergo elective transfemoral CAG. Mid ‐term outcomes of consecutive 998 cases of coronary atherectomy in contemporary clinical practice
ConclusionIn this retrospective, single center study, we observed no significant differences in 6‐month rates of adverse events associated with use of OA vs. RA in patients with moderate to severe calcification undergoing PCI. Larger, prospective studies are needed to confirm our findings. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)

Anesthetic ointment only (lidocaine/prilocaine) instead of injectable local lidocaine in trans ‐radial catheterization: A viable no‐needle alternative
ConclusionUse of a local anesthetic ointment, versus injectable lidocaine, in trans‐radial cardiac catheterization as means of local anesthesia, was found to be equally effective in terms of pain, artery spasm, or artery cannulation speed. (Source: Journal of Interventional Cardiology)
