20(S)-ginsenoside Rh2 displays efficacy against T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia through PI3K/Akt/mTOR signal pathway
ConclusionThe findings indicate that 20(S)-GRh2 exhibits beneficial effects against T-ALL through PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway and could be a natural product of novel target for T-ALL therapy.Graphical abstract20(S)-ginsenoside Rh2 (20(S)-GRh2) is a major active compound extracted from ginseng, which exhibits anti-cancer effects. In this study, we explored the anti-leukemia effect of 20(S)-GRh2 in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the underlying molecular mechanisms of 20(S)-GRh2 against T-ALL were investigated. Our results showed that 20(S)-GRh2 inhibited cell proliferation and arrested cell cycle at G1 phase through inhibiting PI...

The G115 standardized ginseng extract: an example for safety, efficacy, and quality of an herbal medicine
Publication date: Available online 18 June 2019Source: Journal of Ginseng ResearchAuthor(s): Anna R. Bilia, Maria C. BergonziAbstractGinseng products on the market show high variability in their composition and overall quality. This becomes a challenge for both consumers and health-care professionals who are in search of high-quality, reliable ginseng products that have a proven safety and efficacy profile. The botanical extract standardization is of crucial importance in this context as it determines the reproducibility of the quality of the product that is essential for the evaluation of effectiveness and safety. This re...

Biotransformation of natural polyacetylene in red ginseng by Chaetomium globosum
ConclusionMetabolite A is a rare example of natural polyacetylene biotransformation by microbial fermentation. This biotransformation only occurred in fermented RG. The extract of RG also stimulated the production of a new natural product, cazaldehyde B, from C. globosum. The lactone in metabolite A can decrease the cytotoxicity, which was deemed to be the intrinsic activity of polyacetylene in ginseng.Graphical abstract (Source: Journal of Ginseng Research)

Cold-induced Ginsenosides Accumulation is Associated with the Alteration in DNA Methylation and Relative Gene Expression in Perennial American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.) along with its Plant Growth and Development Process
ConclusionWe therefore hypothesized that cold-induced DNA methylation changes might regulate relative gene expression involving both plant development and plant secondary metabolites in such cold dependent perennial plant species.Graphical abstractA postulated mechanism of cold-induced ginsenosides accumulation in perennial American ginseng Along with the seasonal changes in temperature, the 1 to 2-year-old American ginseng, which are at the stage of plant vegetative growth, experience DNA demethylation, a lower levels expression of PqDDS, a small quantity of ginsenosides accumulation and then plant aerial parts wilted and...
