Cytokine-induced killer cells carrying recombinant oncolytic adenovirus expressing p21Ras scFv inhibited liver cancer
Conclusions: We develop a novel strategy for the treatment of Ras-driven liver cancer by combining CIK cells with oncolytic adenovirus expressing anti-p21Ras scFv. Intravenous injection of CIK cells carrying KGHV500 in vivo significantly inhibits tumor growth, has little effect on normal organs, and is relatively safe. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

The Expression of Transcription Factors is Different in Papillary Thyroid Cancer Cells during TNF - α induced EMT
Proinflammatory factor tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is an important inflammatory mediators in tumor microenvironment and autoimmune diseases, it is highly expressed in many solid tumors and tumor microenvironment, showing a tumor promoting role. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying TNF-α-increased invasion of thyroid cancer are still not fully understood. In order to explore whether TNF-α plays a key role in the process of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), we used TNF-α to induce EMT in different PTC cell lines, and observed the expression of d...

Lignans intake and enterolactone concentration and prognosis of breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion: This study provides limited evidence that lignans intake and higher serum enterolactone concentrations in postmenopausal women are beneficial to breast cancer patients' prognosis. In premenopausal women, however, the relationship may be reversed. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

CSE1L, as a novel prognostic marker, promotes pancreatic cancer proliferation by regulating the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive tumors with poor prognosis and new targetable therapies are urgently required. CSE1L (chromosome segregation 1 like) is thought to play an important role in tumorigenesis and acts as a cancer therapeutic target. However, the biological function and the underlying mechanism of CSE1L in pancreatic cancer are still not fully explicit. In the present study, we found that high CSE1L expression was related to a worse prognosis in patients with pancreatic cancer according to data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Additionally, we found that CSE1L knockdown inhibited the ...

The relationship between the severity of pulmonary fibrosis and the lung cancer stage
Conclusions: The lung cancer stage at diagnosis was higher in patients with a higher GAP stage than in those with a lower GAP stage. Physicians should consider implementing more frequent surveillance with computed tomography scans for patients with advanced IPF. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

Efficient combination of Human Papillomavirus Genotyping for the triage of women with Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance in Chinese rural population: A population-based study
Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that genotyping for a combination of HPV16/18/31/33/58 provides a more efficient and cost-effective model to risk-stratify women with ASC-US in the Chinese rural population. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

Exosomal miR-1305 in the oncogenic activity of hypoxic multiple myeloma cells: a biomarker for predicting prognosis
Conclusions: Exosome-mediated secretion of miR-1305 in MM cells promoted oncogenic activity of hypoxic MM cells and high serum levels of exosomal miR-1305. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

Auxiliary diagnosis of Lung Cancer on the basis of a Serum Protein Biomarker Panel
Conclusions: It was demonstrated that 4-protein biomarker panel had a significant performance in identifying lung cancer patients from healthy controls, especially combining with the nodule size. Specifically, it yielded excellent discrimination for identifying early-stage lung cancer patients than individual biomarker alone. A future large-scale study is underway to further define the clinical application of this method for the early diagnosis of lung cancer among Chinese populations. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins play the roles of radioprotection on Normal Lung and radiosensitization on Lung Cancer via differential regulation of the MAPK Signaling Pathway
This study was to investigate radioprotective effects of grape seed proanthocyanidins (GSP) on normal lung as well as radiosensitizing effects on lung cancer. In vitro, we demonstrated radioprotective effects of GSP on normal alveolar epithelial cells (MLE-12 and BEAS/2B) and radiosensitizing effects on lung cancer cells (LLC and A549). In vivo, we confirmed these two-way effects in tumor-bearing mice. The results showed that GSP inhibited tumor growth, and played a synergistic killing effect with radiotherapy on lung cancer. Meanwhile, GSP reduced radiation damage to normal lung tissues. The two-way effects related to the...

Changes in phospholipid metabolism in exosomes of hormone-sensitive and hormone-resistant prostate cancer cells
Conclusions: This study demonstrates that phosphatidylcholine and its harmful product lysophosphatidylcholine may play important roles in hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. Phospholipid exosome metabolism was changed in hormone-sensitive and hormone-resistant prostate cancer cells. The LPC, lipid pathway of autophagy and ferroptosis may act as therapeutic targets. The possibility of purifying prostate cancer cell exosomes using modified PEG precipitation is suitable for cancer screening. (Source: Journal of Cancer)

Clinical characteristics and outcomes in HIV-associated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in China: A retrospective single-center study
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is associated with an increased risk of aggressive lymphoma, especially diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). There are few data regarding HIV-associated DLBCL in China. Therefore, we analyzed the characteristics and outcomes of patients with HIV-associated DLBCL from our center. We retrospectively studied HIV-infected patients with DLBCL from 2011 to 2019. Data on HIV infection and lymphoma characteristics, treatments and outcomes were retrieved and analyzed. In 78 patients with HIV-associated DLBCL, most had poor performance status (PS) (74%), elevated lactate dehydrogenase (...
