Overexpression of HIPK2 removes the transrepression of proapoptotic genes mediated by the CtBP1-p300-FOXO3a complex and increases the chemosensitivity in osteosarcoma cells
Decreased expression of proapoptotic genes can lead to the chemoresistenance in cancer therapy. Carboxyl-terminal binding protein 1 (CtBP1), a transcriptional corepressor with multiple oncogenic effects, has been previously identified to suppress the expression of two proapoptotic genes [BAX (BCL2 associated X) and BIM (Bcl-2 interacting mediator of cell death)] by assembling a complex with the Forkhead box O3 (FOXO3a) transcription factor and the p300 histone acetyltransferase. However, the upstream regulatory signaling of the CtBP1-p300-FOXO3a complex is obscure, and the effects of changing this signaling on chemosensiti...

Study on the correlation between Helicobacter Pylori and biological characteristics of early Gastric Cancer
Conclusion: HP infection is related to the tumor site and mucosal inflammatory infiltration of EGC. The malignant degree of EGC complicated with HP infection is higher, and most of them are mixed type. The degree of HP infection was positively correlated with the degree of invasion and malignancy of ECG. Furthermore, the tumor indicator HER2 is closely related to HP infection, and the detection of HP combined with HER2 is of great significance in the discovery of EGC and the evaluation of its malignancy. Ethyl acetate subfractions from ethanol extracts of fermented oats (Avena sativa L.) exert anti-cancer properties in vitro and in vivo through G2/M and S Phase arrest and apoptosis
Conclusions: EASs exhibited anti-cancer activities in vitro and in vivo via cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. This finding suggests that polyphenol-enriched composition from fermented oats might become a promising candidate for impeding the development and progression of liver cancer. Androgen receptor (AR) decreases HCC cells migration and invasion via miR-325/ACP5 signaling
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most 5th commonly diagnosed and 2nd most lethal tumor in the world. The obvious gender advantage of HCC indicates that androgen receptor (AR) may play an important role in the tumor occurrence, develop and metastasis of HCC. Here we found that decreased AR could alter miR-325 to increase ACP5 expression in HCC cells, to increase HCC cells migration and invasion capacities. Mechanism dissection revealed that AR could regulate miR-325 expression through transcriptional regulation and miR-325 might directly target the 3'UTR of ACP5-mRNA to suppress its translation. The in vivo orthotopic ...

ARRB1 Drives Gallbladder Cancer Progression by Facilitating TAK1/MAPK Signaling Activation
Gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is the most common malignancy of the biliary tract, with a dismal 5-year survival of 5%. Recently, ARRB1, as a molecular scaffold, has been proposed to participate in the progression of multiple malignancies. However, the effect and regulatory mechanisms of ARRB1 in GBC have not been investigated. Our study aimed to explore the biological functional status and the possible molecular mechanisms of ARRB1 with respect to GBC progression. The survey showed that human GBC tissues exhibited increased levels of ARRB1 compared with normal tissues, and the high expression of ARRB1 was associated with poo...

Prognostic significance of FSCN family in multiple myeloma
In this study, we used four independent Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets to explore the relationships between FSCN1-3 expression profiles and patient survival in MM. We found that FSCN1 was dramatically down-regulated in MM compared to normal donors (p < 0.001) and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) (p = 0.032). Patients with high expression of FSCN1 and FSCN2 had significantly longer OS (p = 0.023 and 0.028, respectively). Univariate and multivariate analysis showed that FSCN1 (p = 0.003, 0.002) and FSCN2 (p = 0.018, 0.013) were independent favorable prognostic factors for OS in MM. Moreov...

Cyr61 mediates oxaliplatin resistance in colorectal cancer cells by regulating Bcl-xL expression
In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of Cyr61 in the L-OHP resistance of CRC cells and examine the underlying mechanism. Our findings showed that the mRNA and protein levels of Cyr61 in L-OHP-resistant cells were significantly increased compared with those in nonresistant cells. Knockdown of Cyr61 enhanced the chemosensitivity of L-OHP-resistant cells to L-OHP. Mechanistically, we found that overexpression of Cyr61 decreased L-OHP-induced apoptosis in drug-resistant CRC cells through the regulation of Bcl-xL. Collectively, our results revealed for the first time that Cyr61 plays a crucial role in the resistance ...
