Ovarian Tumor Cases Which Were Preoperatively Diagnosed as Benign but Postoperatively Confirmed as Borderline or Malignant After Laparoscopic Surgery, Tumors
This study retrospectively reviewed cases in our hospital that underwent surgery based on the preoperative diagnosis of benignancy but postoperatively proved to be borderline or malignant to evaluate clinical and histological factors as well as prognosis. Subjects and methods The study group was comprised of 1,322 women who underwent a laparoscopic procedure on the basis of a preoperative diagnosis of a benign ovarian tumor in our hospital between 1995 and 2011. The rate of borderline and malignant cases, histology, and postoperative treatment were investigated. Results Of the 1,322 cases, 15 (1.1%) were postoperativel...

“Localized Leiomyosarcoma of the Uterine Cervix with Rapid Lung Metastases”
We report a case of a 63-year-old woman that was admitted to our institution due to abnormal vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. Physical examination revealed a large cervical mass that was biopsied. Pathological features were compatible with a leiomyosarcoma of the uterine cervix. The patient underwent total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. All histological and Immunohistochemical findings confirmed the diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma of the cervix. Adjuvant chemotherapy was started but unfortunately the disease progressed and one year after completion of the chemotherapy she developed lung metast...

A novel hysteroscopic pattern of microvascular architecture in uterine endometrioid adenocarcinoma:Initial Clinical Experience
CONCLUSION Our conclusion is that patient with “glomerular sign” has high percentage of moderate or high grade endometrioid adenocarcinoma. It may provide information of the preoperative pathohistology and decrease the possibility of histology upgrade after hysterectomy. But it still needs large series, prospective and comparison study. Laparoscopic Uterine Artery Occlusion for Treatment of Symptomatic Uterine Fibroids
Publication date: Available online 21 May 2015 Source:Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Therapy Author(s): Weihong Yang , Ning Luo , Zhongping Cheng In recent years, with the development of gynecologic laparoscopy technology, uterine artery occlusion by laparoscopy (UAOL) was performed as a primary treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids. According to the documents reported, UAOL for treatment of uterine fibroids showed favorable clinic outcomes, including of relieving menometrorrhagia, decrease of uterine volume and decline of recurrence rate of fibroids. However, the therapeutic mechanism of UAOL remains unclea...

Objective and subjective outcome 3 years after synthetic transobturator nonabsorbable anterior mesh use in symptomatic advanced pelvic organ prolapse surgery
Conclusion The Perigee System gave a favorable result in both anatomical and subjective success rates with a low rate of mesh-related morbidities. The strength of the study reported here is its long-term follow up of a relatively large number of patients and the use of validated questionnaires. Limitations are that it is not a RCT; hence, selection and indication bias is unavoidable. The favorable outcome and low morbidities resulting from mesh use is from a single surgeon's perspective and may not be generalized to others. (Source: Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Therapy)
