According to the documents reported, UAOL for treatment of uterine fibroids showed favorable clinic outcomes, including of relieving menometrorrhagia, decrease of uterine volume and decline of recurrence rate of fibroids. However, the therapeutic mechanism of UAOL remains unclear. It was thought that the mechanism of UAOL was mostly related to uterine blood supply and uterine intramural arterial paths and the difference in coagulation-fibrinolysis system between uterine myometrium and fibroids. So, the study reviewed and generalized many documents about clinic effects and therapeutic mechanism of UAOL.
