Treating symptomatic uterine fibroids with myomectomy: current practice and views of UK consultants
ConclusionsCompared to a similar survey performed 10  years ago, surgical methods remain to be the most common treatments, but use of less invasive treatments such as UAE has increased. Consultants’ attitudes appear to be responding to the patient demand for less radical treatments. However, it is yet to be seen if the changing consultant demograph ics will keep up with this demand. The low response rate warrants cautious interpretation of the results, but they provide an interesting snapshot of current views and practices. (Source: Gynecological Surgery)

Spigelian hernia in gynaecology
ConclusionsThe gynaecologist should consider a Spigelian hernia in women with localised pain in the abdominal wall lateral of the rectus muscle some 5  cm below the umbilicus. Smaller hernias can be closed by laparoscopy without a mesh. Larger hernias require a mesh repair. (Source: Gynecological Surgery)

Endometrial cancer in a woman undergoing hysteroscopy for recurrent IVF failure
ConclusionsEndometrial cancer can be found at hysteroscopy in young women with repeated IVF failures. Total laparoscopic hysterectomy versus total abdominal hysterectomy in the treatment of benign gynaecological disease: a retrospective review over 5  years
AbstractHysterectomy remains one of the most common gynaecological procedures performed in the UK. However, unlike other parts of Europe and America, where laparoscopic hysterectomy (LH) rates have significantly increased, in the UK, abdominal hysterectomy (AH) rates remain high and often the first choice for many surgeons. The minimal access route offers significant patient benefits over open surgery, and the purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) versus total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) in the management of benign gynaecological conditions. This retrospective study was ca...

Ergonomics of laparoscopic graspers and the importance of haptic feedback: the surgeons ’ perspective
This study stresses that the high prevalence of physical complaints directly related to laparoscopic instruments among lap aroscopic surgeons is still relevant. Furthermore, the potential benefits of enhanced haptic feedback in laparoscopic surgery are recognized by laparoscopic specialists. Therefore, haptic feedback is considered an unmet need in laparoscopy. (Source: Gynecological Surgery)
