Is weight-related bullying addressed in school-based anti-bullying programs?
Discussion and conclusion The results underscore the need to consider weight-related bullying more closely in anti-bullying programs implemented in elementary, middle, and high schools. It is also important to target the intervention strategies most likely to lead to the prevention and reduction of weight-related bullying. Such strategies could include, for example: (a) education, training, and awareness-raising, for school personnel, concerning weight bias, norms and prejudices; and (b) social and emotional support for students who are victims of weight-related teasing or bullying. Exploring weight-related teasing and depression among overweight and obese adolescents
Conclusion The results of this study extend previous research by identifying self-esteem and body satisfaction as possible psychological constructs that help to explain the nature of the relationship between weight-related teasing and depression among overweight and obese youth. Learning climate, academic competence, and anxiety during the transition to middle school: Parental attachment as a protective factor
Conclusion The results suggest that attachment security to the mother predicts perceived academic competence and anxiety symptoms during the middle school transition. Additionally, attachment security to the mother can moderate the potentially harmful effects of a learning climate emphasizing social comparison and performance on anxiety.
