Foreword
Heart failure (HF) is being diagnosed with increased frequency. By 2030 more than 8 million people are expected to be diagnosed with HF in the USA and the total direct cost will have correspondingly increased from $21 billion to $53 billion. About half of the patients have “preserved” left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF). The incidence of HFpEF is increasing by 10% per decade when compared to HF in those with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The outcome of patients with HFrEF is associated with improving mortality due to treatment; but in those with HFpEF, treatments have not showed such beneficial effects. (So...

Preexcitation Syndromes
The classic electrocardiogram (ECG) in Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is characterized by a short PR interval and prolonged QRS duration in the presence of sinus rhythm with initial slurring. The clinical syndrome associated with above ECG finding and the history of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia is referred to as WPW syndrome. Various Eponyms describing accessory or anomalous conduction pathways in addition to the normal pathway are collectively referred to as preexcitation syndromes. Foreword
The classic preexcitation syndrome is an ECG finding of short PR interval and prolonged QRS duration in the pressure of sinus rhythm with initial slurring of the QRS. The clinical WPW (Wolff-Parkinson-White) syndrome is the above ECG finding with history (or presence) of supraventricular arrhythmias. (Source: Current Problems in Cardiology)
