The enduring effect of laser iridoplasty
Abstract In primary angle closure (PAC), where peripheral iridotomy has failed to open the iridocorneal angles, laser iridoplasty (LI) is an option to open the angle further1. Iridoplasty causes iris thinning as well as circumferential and radial contraction of the peripheral iris, pulling it away from trabecular meshwork2. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology)

Altered proportion of CCR2+ and CX3CR1+ circulating monocytes in neovascular age ‐related macular degeneration and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy
ConclusionsNeovascular AMD is associated with increased expression of angiogenesis‐associated chemokine receptors in the pro‐inflammatory non‐classical monocytes. PCV differ from neovascular AMD immunologically and show immunological heterogeneity across angiographic subtypes. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology)

Paracentral acute middle maculopathy associated with severe vision loss following vitrectomy for vitreous haemorrhage
We read with interest the report of 10 cases of paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) in patients with severe vision loss post cataract surgery by Creese et al.1 and the accompanied editorial by Chen2 in this journal. We thank the authors for their contribution and wish to report on a similar recent case of PAMM post retinal surgery. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology)

Clinical outcomes with distance ‐dominant multifocal and monofocal intraocular lenses in post‐LASIK cataract surgery planned using an intraoperative aberrometer
Conclusions and RelevanceResults suggest a history of previous LASIK is not a contraindication to use of distant‐dominant multifocal IOLs. Intraoperative aberrometry did not appear to improve clinical outcomes in post‐LASIK eyes, though a positive trend was evident. (Source: Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology)

Effect of NADPH oxidase 1 and 4 blockade in activated human retinal endothelial cells
ConclusionsOur findings in experiments on activated human retinal endothelial cells provide translational corroboration of studies in experimental models of retinal vasculopathy and support the therapeutic application of Nox4 inhibition by GKT136901 and GKT137831 in patients with retinal vascular diseases.
