Comparison of β-Amyloid Plaque Labeling Methods: Antibody Staining, Gallyas Silver Staining, and Thioflavin-S Staining
ConclusionsThe APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer's disease could mimick the progress of Aβ plaques occurred in patients with Alzheimer's disease. Antibody detection of Aβ deposition may be more sensitive than chemical staining methods. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Landscape of PD-1/PD-L1 Regulation and Targeted Immunotherapy
Publication date: September 2018Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal, Volume 33, Issue 3Author(s): Jieming Ni, Anping NiAbstractProgrammed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) is a significant immune checkpoint, and the dysfunction of this axis contributes to tumor metastasis and immune escape. PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK signal network induces PD-1/PD-L1 expression and facilitates tumor progression. Transcriptional factors such as hypoxia induced factors, PTEN, p53, CDK5, BRD4, STAT modulate PD-1/PDL1 expression. PD-1/PD-L1 level is also regulated via epigenetic and post-translational manner. The u...

Treatment of Skin Reaction Induced by Nivolumab Combined with Radiotherapy in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer: A Case Report
We reported a patient with advanced squamous cell lung cancer who suffered from serious skin immune-related adverse events when he was treated with nivolumab and radiotherapy. The immune overreaction of the treatment of anti-PD-1 treatment and radiotherapy might cause these serious skin adverse events. Our report warranted careful workup to reduce the risk of side effects by combinative therapy with anti-PD-1 and radiotherapy. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Multi-parametric MRI Diagnoses Cerebellar Hemangioblastoma: A Case Report
In conclusion, early enhancement of cyst wall on T2-FLAIR might be the characteristic imaging findings for cystic hemangioblastoma, which may assist in the diagnosis of hemangioblastoma preoperatively. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Imaging Diagnosis of Type III Choledochal Cyst: A Case Report
We reported a patient with choledochocele. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography showed a thin-walled sac in the duodenal cavity and a fine tubular structure connecting with the end of the common bile duct. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography is a noninvasive and convenient technique in the diagnosis of choledochocele. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Recombinant Expression and Purification of Mouse Nectin-like 4 Glycoprotein in 293ET Cell Line
ConclusionsBy using modified AP mammalian protein expression system, we can easily screen the high productive stable cell lines by using AP activity assay. By adding mannosidase inhibitor kifunensine into the medium and cutting purified protein by using endoglycosidase H, we can obtain deglycosylated Necl-4 protein in milligram quantities. Our method might throw a light on the expression and purification of glycoprotein for structural and functional studies. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Therapy of Rituximab in Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy with Nephrotic Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
ConclusionsRTX treatment in IMN was efficient, well tolerated and safe. More than 60% patients can reach partial remission or CR in 24 months, and relapse is rare. Adverse events of RTX are mostly infusion-related reactions and generally mild. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Gray Matter Volume Changes over the Whole Brain in the Bulbar- and Spinal-onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: a Voxel-based Morphometry Study
ConclusionsThe asymmetric GM atrophy of the motor cortex and extra-motor cortex represents the common MRI structural signatures of spinal-onset ALS, and sole extra-motor cortex atrophy represents the structural signatures of bulbar-onset ALS. The present study also demonstrated that the pattern of GM damage is likely to distribute wider in spinal-onset ALS than in bulbar-onset ALS. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)

Gene Expression Profile of Hypertrophic Chondrocytes Treated with H2O2: A Preliminary Investigation
ConclusionsH2O2 significantly changed the expression of several genes involved in a variety of biological functions. Because of the link between oxidative damage and Kashin-Beck disease, these genes may also be involved in the deep-zone necrosis of the cartilage observed in Kashin-Beck disease. Progress in the Diagnosis and Management of Chorea-acanthocytosis
Publication date: March 2018Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal, Volume 33, Issue 1Author(s): Yang Liu, Ziyuan Liu, Xinhua Wan, Yi GuoAbstractChorea-acanthocytosis (ChAc) is the most common subtype of neuroacanthocytosis syndrome, characterized by the presence of acanthocytes and neurological disorders. It is thought to be caused by VPS13A mutations. Characteristic movement disorders in ChAc is choreiform movements affecting both trunk and extremities and prominent orolingual dyskinesia is pathognomonic. Acanthocytosis in peripheral blood smear, elevated serum creatine kinase and atrophy of heads of caudate nuclei and...

Fibronectin Glomerulopathy Caused by the Y973C Mutation in Fibronectin: A Case Report and Literature Review
Publication date: March 2018Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal, Volume 33, Issue 1Author(s): Chao Li, Yubing Wen, Hang Li, Mingxi Li, Xuewang Li, Xuemei LiAbstractFibronectin glomerulopathy is a rare autosomal dominant inherited glomerular disease associated with massive deposition of fibronectin. We recently diagnosed fibronectin glomerulopathy in a 29-year-old woman presenting nephrotic syndrome. Genetic analysis of fibronectin 1 gene showed heterozygosity for the Y973C mutation. However, this mutation was not found in her parents. She had stable renal function but persistent nephrotic proteinuria after one-year fo...

Solitary Fibrous Tumor of the Kidney Treated with Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy: A Case Report
Publication date: March 2018Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal, Volume 33, Issue 1Author(s): Xing Chen, Jianfeng Wang, Zhenshan Ding, Xiaofeng ZhouAbstractWe herein reported a 27-year-old woman with a right renal mass for two years. She underwent laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Immunohistochemical examination of the specimen confirmed the diagnosis of solitary fibrous tumor by revealing its positive staining for cluster of differentiation (CD)34, epithelial membrane antigen (EMA), B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and CD99 in the tumor cells. No adjuvant treatment was carried out. The patient was in good health without loc...

Midterm Follow-up of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting with 64-Slice Multi-detector Computed Tomography: Identification of Risk Factors Affecting Graft Patency
ConclusionsThe proximal LAD stenosis less than 90% was adversely associated with graft patency in LIMA recipients; dyslipidemia, diabetes and angina symptoms were associated with the midterm failure in SVG recipients. The choice of the target anastomosis sites may affect the patency of SVG. (Source: Chinese Medical Sciences Journal)
