Sleep patterns and problems in infants and young children in Ireland
ConclusionsThese findings highlight a substantial unmet need, and it is suggested that public health nurses and health visitors have a key role to play in supporting positive sleep patterns in early childhood. (Source: Child: Care, Health and Development)

Changes in verbal and visuospatial working memory from Grade 1 to Grade 3 of primary school: Population longitudinal study
ConclusionAlthough mean changes in working memory standard scores between Grades 1 and 3 were minimal, we found that individual development varied widely, with marked natural resolution by Grade 3 in children who initially had low working memory. This may render brain‐training interventions ineffective in the early school year ages, particularly if (as population‐based programmes usually mandate) selection occurs within a screening paradigm. Identifying environmental barriers to participation: Usability of a health ‐literacy informed problem‐identification approach for parents of young children with developmental disabilities
ConclusionsThis study suggests that parents with a range of background characteristics can use a structured, environment‐focused problem‐identification approach. With the approach, parents are more likely to attribute participation challenges to environmental barriers and adopt a problem‐solving orientation focused on changes to the community and policy context.Key Messages In this study, the structured, environment‐focused problem‐identification approach led parents to identify additional environmental barriers, particularly policy barriers, which they did not consider during independent problem identification. ...

Understanding frames: A qualitative study of young people's experiences of using standing frames as part of postural management for cerebral palsy
ConclusionsYoung people report benefits related to choice, pain relief, and participation but can also cause pain, discomfort, and reduced independence and participation. Healthcare professionals should have open, informative conversations about potential benefits and challenges of standing frames on all aspects of the young people's lives, including participation and activity.Key messages Young people value their standing frame and perceive benefits such as pain relief and participation. However, standing frames can also cause pain, discomfort, and reduce independence and participation. Most young people value having a ch...

Migrant children's health problems, care needs, and inequalities: European primary care paediatricians' perspective
ConclusionsEuropean primary care paediatricians recognize migrant children as a population at risk with more frequent and specific health problems and needs, but they are often unaware of their legal state. Lack of interpreters augments the existing language barriers to access proper care and should be solved. Widespread lack of guidelines and specific providers' training should be addressed to optimize health care delivery to migrant children. (Source: Child: Care, Health and Development)

Enhancing human aspects of care with young people with muscular dystrophy: Results from a participatory qualitative study with clinicians
ConclusionAlthough the human aspects of care were important to clinicians in the MD clinic, the routines and nature of the clinic meant these were frequently sidelined for biomedical objectives. We present collaboratively produced practical recommendations toward addressing this disjunction between ideals and practice including developing flexibility to tailor appointment frequency, composition, and length; providing time and physical space for psychosocial aspects of care; and clinician skill building to support child/family expression of “negative” emotions; and discussion of sociopolitical aspects of MD such as livi...
