Recommendations for the Management of the Incidental Renal Mass in Adults: Endorsement and Adaptation of the 2017 ACR Incidental Findings Committee White Paper by the Canadian Association of Radiologists Incidental Findings Working Group
Since the publication of the first landmark paper by the American College of Radiology (ACR) Incidental Findings Committee in 2010, that committee has been providing valuable guidance to radiologists throughout the world on how to manage incidental imaging findings [1]. In 2017, the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) received feedback from its membership that there was a need for a Canada-specific set of incidental findings guidelines which would acknowledge the unique distribution of imaging modalities and resource limitations that radiologists in this country face. Direction of the Biopsy Needle in Ultrasound-Guided Renal Biopsy Impacts Specimen Adequacy and Risk of Bleeding
Although medical factors such as hypertension and coagulopathy have been identified that are associated with hemorrhage after renal biopsy, little is known about the role of technical factors. The purpose of our study was to examine the effects of biopsy needle direction on renal biopsy specimen adequacy and bleeding complications. (Source: Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal)

Computed Tomography Features of Encapsulating Peritoneal Sclerosis
Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) is an uncommon but destructive complication of continuous peritoneal dialysis. EPS is a chronic inflammatory pathology classified as primary and secondary EPS. The classification depends on the pathologic findings of the encasing membrane and etiopathogenesis. Idiopathic EPS is known as abdominal cocoon syndrome. However, several etiologies, such as gynaecological infection, resulting in immunologic tissue damage, retrograde peritonitis, retrograde menstruation with viral infection, vascular anomalies, and omental hypoplasia, have been defined as secondary etiopathogenesis. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Features of Cervical Spine Intraspinal Extradural Synovial Cysts
Spinal synovial cysts are relatively uncommon and are most frequently found in the lumbar spine and rarely in the cervical spine. Intraspinal extradural cervical synovial cysts can occur and potentially cause cord/nerve root compression with symptoms of myelopathy/radiculopathy; however, most are asymptomatic and incidental findings. We conducted a literature review and present, to our knowledge, the largest imaging case series and describe the magnetic resonance imaging features of cervical synovial cysts. Validation of an Magnetic Resonance Imaging Acquisition and Review Protocol for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain allows for the identification of structural lesions typical of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the main cause of dementia. However, to have a clinical impact, it is imperative that acquisition and reporting of this MRI-based evidence be standardized, ensuring the highest possible reliability and reproducibility. Our objective was to validate a systematic radiological MRI acquisition and review process in the context of AD. (Source: Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal)

A PSA for Radiologists: Pictorial Review of Incidentalomas on Prostate Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the prostate is a powerful and increasingly utilized imaging study for the diagnosis, staging, and surveillance of prostate cancer. With greater adoption by clinicians, it is becoming more common for incidental findings to be first detected on prostate MRI. Inadequate description of clinically significant findings may not prompt appropriate patient management, while over-reporting of indolent findings comes at increased patient anxiety, cost of workup, and iatrogenic risk. Renal Colic Imaging: Myths, Recent Trends, and Controversies
There has been a substantial increase in the utilization of imaging, particularly of multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT), for the evaluation of patients with suspected urolithiasis over the past 2  decades. While the diagnostic accuracy of computed tomography (CT) for urolithiasis is excellent, it has also resulted in substantial medical expenditures and increased ionizing radiation exposure. This is especially concerning in patients with known nephrolithiasis and in younger patients. This p ictorial review will focus on recent trends and controversies in imaging of patients with suspected urolithiasis, including th...

A Simplified Low-Cost Training Phantom for Placement of Abscess Drainage Catheter
Percutaneous placement of an abscess drainage catheter to relieve fluid collections is a common radiologic procedure performed under ultrasound guidance [1]. Although this minimally invasive technique carries significantly less risk of morbidity and mortality compared to an open surgical intervention, the use of ultrasonography (US) does not completely eliminate potential adverse events [1]. Complications of catheter placement using US guidance include non-target access, bleeding, and infection or cardiopulmonary events such as pneumothorax [1].
