Sociodemographic and Socioeconomic Characteristics of Elder Self-Neglect in an US Chinese Aging Population
This study aimed to examine the socio-demographic and socioeconomic characteristics associated with prevalence and severity of elder self-neglect in an U.S. Chinese older population. The PINE study is a population-based epidemiological study in the greater Chicago area. In total, 3,159Chinese older adults were interviewed from 2011-2013. Elder self-neglect was assessed with systematic observations of a participant's personal and home environment across five domains: hoarding, personal hygiene, house in need of repair, unsanitary conditions, and inadequate utility. Long-term effects of an intergenerational program on functional capacity in older adults: Results from a seven-year follow-up of the REPRINTS study
In several developed countries, including Japan, the growing aged population and low birthrate is a critical social issue; the economic burden on the younger generation due to the expected growth of the older generation’s welfare and healthcare costs is immense. Early support is necessary to help older adults maintain functional health, reducing the need for long-term healthcare (e.g., bedridden individuals). Thus, developing an effective and sustainable program for health promotion among older adults is an important global issue. (Source: Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics)

Use of the frailty index in evaluating the prognosis of older people in Beijing: A cohort study with an 8-year follow-up
The increasing number of older people in China poses a significant public health challenge, particularly with regard to improving healthcare and social outcomes in older populations (Yao et al., 2014). Aging people show increasing morbidity, dependence, and vulnerability (Boeckxstaens et al., 2014). Clinical tools such as comprehensive assessments are an important part of providing effective healthcare for older populations. For example, the choice of medication or surgical methods based on a comprehensive assessment in patients with tumors could reduce the incidence of adverse drug reactions and operation risk (Kim et al....

Consumption of star fruit juice on pro-inflammatory markers and walking distance in the community dwelling elderly
The increasing trend of Thailand’s aging population is predicted to rise from 9.0 million in 2015 to 15.9 million in 2035 (Mahidol University Population Projections for Thailand 2005-2025, 2006). There is a high prevalence of chronic disease in the elderly such as hypertension, cardiac disease, type II diabetes and musculoskeletal problems (Fontana, 2009), as well as a predisposition of increased inflammatory state and impaired immunity associated with the normal aging process (O’Connor et al., 2014).
