Physical and mental health problems have been focused on gerontological literature due to their negative impact on functionality, autonomy, self-rated health and life satisfaction (Berg, Hassing, Nilsson, & Johansson, 2008; Sabatini, 2014; Steptoe, Deaton, & Stone, 2014). Those outcomes are known to add challenges to the resources of individuals, families, communities and health care systems.
