This is Bellsie from Obsessively Compulsively Yours here. This week is OCD Awareness Week – a chance to clear up some of the myths that still surround the illness. The term OCD is frequently misused in everyday language, and a recent street survey highlighted that 44% of people felt they had ‘OCD traits’, which clearly shows the lack of understanding that still exists about OCD, with people still confusing non-anxiety provoking traits for the illness.

I get extremely annoyed at governments pontificating on how poor people can help themselves. “Tough Love” involves two concepts; moving from a place of understanding and compassion while setting realistic boundaries. It does not come from a cold hard place of judgement and superiority. Politicians appear to get off on “tough”, while ignoring the “love” aspect.

I’m very aware that the ‘Helping Places and Helplines’ section of this blog is in need of an update and wondered if you’ve any suggestions on what or who we should add?
It’s really just a list of places and faces which have proven useful to people at times when they’ve needed help and support. Doesn’t matter whether it’s for S’Users or Carers… so long as it was a good find.

A starting point for the work on show in the Knitting Time exhibition is a collection of poems which explore personal narratives from infancy to the present time. The stories stem from my induction as an infant into the delusionary belief system of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
