Now that the excitement of the TWIM Awards shortlisting is over (for now, come back on 21st December for the final results) it’s time for me to pen a few thoughts on the use of social media in mental health. A lot of this is linked to my own personal journey in this area, both in terms of where I’ve come from and where I want to take things.

Revelation - MPs' standards are doubling every year in the UK

The House of Commons Standards Committee has revealed that the standards of sitting MPs' from all parties are doubling every year - with a marked acceleration in the rate of MPs' double standards since the coalition came to power.
The unsurprising revelations come not long after it was revealed that 340 MPs are claiming expenses from the taxpayer for their energy bills to heat second homes - with one claiming £5,822.

This Week in Mentalists Awards 2013 – The Shortlist
After a month of nominations from the public, we now have a shortlist for the This Week in Mentalists Awards 2013. This is the fourth year of the awards, showcasing the best in mental health blogging (and also for the first time this year, vlogging).
Sifting through the nominations to come up with a shortlist turned out to be a tricky one, not least because a lot of people nominated without stating a category, or stated a category when a blog seemed more to belong in a rather different once. Hence I’ve had to do a certain amount of juggling between the categories.

Knowsley Housing Trust - pay your rent or social services will take your children away

Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) are sending out a standard letter which tenants are reading as pay your rent or social services will come and take your children off you..and you thought social landlords couldn't get any more incompetent!
A copy of this standard letter is below
The phrase in the above letter says that KHT will inform social services about your children and this has caused huge consternation and stress upon tenants who believe this means social services will take their children off them.

Soon to be launched in Devon is an exciting new project to help tackle stigma and discrimination around mental health and to present it as an issue for us all.
We are looking for 8 people with lived experience of mental distress to get involved as facilitators for this project. This is a paid role.
