President ’s Commission on Combating the Opioid Crisis
The President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis released its final report on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 calling for the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as well as other HHS entities to set up nationwide drug courts, a national media campaign and expanded educational programs, as well as reimbursement for a broader range of non-opioid pain medications and treatment services. AHRQ Report on Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid use Disorder
This report also contains a variety of tools to help rural providers implement medication-assisted treatment. In addition, the literature revealed ongoing challenges and barriers to the implementation of medication-assisted treatment. Partnering4Health Report
Partnering4Health is a project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and between 2014 and 2017. Five national organizations were provided with CDC funding to support communities in their efforts to promote healthy lifestyle. The final aim of this project was to reduce death and disability due to tobacco use, decrease obesity and reduce the rate of death and disability related to diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
