2018 Healthy Aging Summit
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), Office on Women’s Health (OWH), and the American College of Preventive Medicine is hosting the 2018 Healthy Aging Summit, July 16-17, 2018 in Washington, DC that addresses the science of healthy aging. CDC Fact Sheet on Alcohol and Opioids
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created a fact sheet, Alcohol Screening and Brief Intervention for People Who Consume Alcohol and Use Opioids to introduce health departments and health care providers to alcohol screening and brief intervention and to discuss its usefulness in helping excessive drinkers drink less when they have been prescribed an opioid pain reliever or stop drinking altogether while using these medications.   (Source: BHIC)

AHRQ National Guideline Clearinghouse No Longer Available
The AHRQ National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC) Web site will not be available after July 16, 2018 because federal funding through AHRQ will no longer be available to support the NGC as of that date. AHRQ is receiving expressions of interest from stakeholders interested in carrying on NGC’s work. It is not clear at this time, however, when or if NGC (or something like NGC) will be online again. In addition, AHRQ has not yet determined whether, or to what extent, the Agency would have an ongoing role if a stakeholder were to continue to operate the NGC. Communicating the Health Effects of Climate Change: A Toolkit for Public Health Outreach
The National Center for Environmental Health, Division of Environmental Hazards and Health Effects recently developed a set of slides in collaboration with climate communication experts. These slides titled, Communicating the Health Effects of Climate Change: A Toolkit for Public Health Outreach, can be used to provide consistent, evidence-based information about climate change to the public. Office of Minority Health Resource Center Library Catalog
The Office of Minority Health Resource Center Library Catalog is an online database that contains over 60,000 documents and articles about the health of racial and ethnic minority populations. In addition to searching by keyword, the database allows the user to narrow their search by the intended audience and resource format. Possible audience choices include health professionals, students or consumers and the resources include fact sheets, books, audiovisuals, and articles. Health Care Equity Community Engagement Toolkits
The Association of American Medical Colleges has developed a set of community engagement toolkits to engage academic and local communities around the topic health care equity. The topics of these toolkits are Social Justice Behind and Beyond the Bars: Criminal Justice, Health, and Academic Medicine, Community Engagement; Precision Medicine, and Native Health and Communities, Social Justice; and Academic Medical Centers.
