Complexity of the Relationships of Pain, Posttraumatic Stress, and Depression in Combat ‐Injured Populations: An Integrative Review to Inform Evidence‐Based Practice
ABSTRACT BackgroundUnderstanding the complex interrelationships between combat injuries, physical health, and mental health symptoms is critical to addressing the healthcare needs of wounded military personnel and veterans. The relationship between injury characteristics, pain, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression among combat‐injured military personnel is unique to modern conflicts and understudied in the nursing literature. Large ‐Scale Hospital Mattress Switch‐Out Leads to Reduction Hospital‐Acquired Pressure Ulcers: Operationalization of a Multidisciplinary Task Force
This article describes the successful implementation of a hospital‐wide mattress switch‐out program using a Multidisciplinary Task Force, which resulted in a decrease in HAPUs and significant cost savings. ResultsAs a result of this quality improvement project supported by evidence, the hospital realized a 66.6% decrease in Stage III and IV HAPUs, a 50% reduction in patient complaints about mattress comfort, a cost savings of $714,724, and an endorsement of bedside nurse clinical autonomy by nursing and executive leaders. The Efficacy of Metacognitive Training for Delusions in Patients With Schizophrenia: A Meta ‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials Informs Evidence‐Based Practice
ABSTRACT BackgroundMetacognitive training (MCT) was developed in 2007 and widely used to modify the delusions for patient with schizophrenia. However, its effectiveness remains unclear. AimsTo investigate the overall effectiveness of MCT for delusion in schizophrenia patients from 2007 to 2016, and to investigate the variables (intervention approach, intervention dose, and participant factors) of an MCT study that could influence the effect size. MethodsParallel‐arm design of MCT for delusions published from 2007 to 2016 were collected and then cross‐referenced using these keywords: delusion (psychosis or psychotic or ...

Influencing Pathways to Quality of Life and HbA1c in Patients With Diabetes: A Longitudinal Study That Inform Evidence ‐Based Practice
ABSTRACT BackgroundDetermining possible associated factors and the influencing pathways to hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) levels and quality of life (QoL) will facilitate the development of effective interventions to improve the physical and psychosocial health of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ObjectivesTo test a hypothesized model that addressed the pathways among personal characteristics, social support, diabetes distress, and self‐care behaviors to HbA1C and QoL. MethodsA total of 382 adults with T2DM were recruited. Self‐reported questionnaires and medical records were used to collect data regarding person...
