Immediate and short term effects of percutaneous atrial septal defect device closure on cardiac electrical remodeling in children
Conclusion Percutaneous ASD device closure can reverse electrical changes in atrial and ventricular myocardium as early as the first 24 h post device closure. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Incidence and predictors of bleeding among Egyptian patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome: Using CRUSADE risk score
Conclusion Risk of bleeding can be evaluated using a simple risk score in both STEMI & NSTEMI patients, and across anti-coagulant strategies, providing important prognostic information. Variability in the rates of bleeding is likely based on differences in baseline characteristics, comorbidities, and invasive treatment strategies rather than specific anti-coagulation regimens. Patients at highest risk of bleeding are also at highest risk of ischaemia and thrombotic complications. Thus higher risk patients need a more careful treatment approach to maximize the efficacy of therapy and to reduce thrombotic risk while ...

Short term outcome of thoracic endovascular aortic repair in patients with thoracic aortic diseases
Conclusion Along with medical treatment, early thoracic endovascular aortic repair in uncomplicated type B aortic dissections and thoracic aortic aneurysms is associated with better outcome. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Assessment of left ventricular regional wall motion abnormalities using regional time-volume curves obtained by real time three-dimensional echocardiography
Conclusion Three-dimensional echocardiography is an easy, non-invasive and objective tool to detect regional wall motion abnormalities in ischemic patients. It shows comparable results with conventional 2D images with the advantage of quantitative assessment of regional myocardial function. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Assessment of left and right atrial geometrical changes in patients with stable coronary artery disease: Left and right atrial strain and strain rate imaging study
Conclusion In patients with CAD and normal EF, borderline E/e′ ratio and normal atrial size, there are decreased LA and RA systolic S and SR parameters with no effect on atrial volumes or distensibility. Accordingly, this could prove that atrial wall deformation occurs early in CAD even before any changes in atrial volumes or dimensions. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Waist height ratio and waist circumference in relation to hypertension, Framingham risk score in hospitalized elderly Egyptians
Conclusion WHtR and WC are strong risk factors for hypertension and cardiovascular events in Egyptian elderly female patients. WHtR is the best anthropometric predictor for hypertension and cardiovascular events in male patients. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Can enhanced external counter pulsation as a non-invasive modality be useful in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy after coronary artery bypass grafting?
Conclusion As a non-invasive treatment modality EECP is very effective in improving the symptoms of angina and heart failure when combined with medical treatment in patients with ICM after CABG. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Bleeding and asymptomatic overdose in patients under Vitamin K antagonist therapy: Frequency and risk factors
Conclusion Most of the risk factors identified in our study seem to be related to patients lack of information and education. These results highlight the importance of creating a therapeutic patient education program. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Prevalence and characteristics of tricuspid valve endocarditis among patients presented to Ain Shams Hospital echocardiography lab; one year study
Conclusion The incidence of TV IE is increasing with male gender predominance, and affects mainly young age groups. TV IE represented 0.6% of all patients, and 17.7% of IE cases. The main echocardiographic feature of TV IE is vegetations which were characterized by being large, highly mobile, and affecting mainly anterior TV leaflet. The main echocardiographic complication is severe TR, but abscess formation was infrequent. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Impact of fractional flow reserve on decision-making in daily clinical practice: A single center experience in Egypt
Conclusion Mismatches between visually- and FFR- estimated significance of intermediate coronary stenosis are frequently encountered across a wide spectrum of clinical presentations. FFR leads to a change in decision for coronary intervention. The clinical and cost implications of such changes-in areas with limited resources- needs further evaluation. Prevention of contrast induced nephropathy by ischemic preconditioning in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary angiography
Conclusions The current study showed that remote ischemic preconditioning plays an important role in prevention of CIN in patients undergoing PCI with renal impairment GFR < 60 ml/min. The amount of contrast, decreased LVEF, and presence of LAD significant lesion were significant risk factors for developing of CIN and these subgroups benefited from application of ischemic preconditioning. Difference in plaque characteristics of coronary culprit lesions in a cohort of Egyptian patients presented with acute coronary syndrome and stable coronary artery disease: An optical coherence tomography study
Conclusion The current FD-OCT study demonstrated the differences of plaque morphology and identified distinct lesion characteristics between patients with ACS and those with SCAD. These findings could explain the clinical presentation of patients in both groups. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)
