An extended simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique (E ‐SART) for X‐ray dual spectral computed tomography
Summary X‐ray dual spectral computed tomography (DSCT) scans the measured object with two different x‐ray energy spectra and the collected polychromatic projections from this procedure can be used to perform basis material decomposition of the object. An iterative method E‐ART was recently proposed to produce highly quantitative basis material images for DSCT, but it has the drawback of slow convergence and huge computational costs. Inspired by the E‐ART method, this paper proposes an extended simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique (E‐SART) for the basis material decomposition of DSCT and an accelerating...

The effect of home bleaching agents on the surface roughness of five different composite resins: A SEM evaluation
Summary The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of hydrogen peroxide (HP) and carbamide peroxide (CP) on the surface roughness of five different composite resins using profilometer and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Thirty‐six specimens (1 mm thick, 10 mm in diameter) of five composite resins were fabricated. Each composite group was equally divided into three subgroups as control, CP and HP. In control group, specimens were stored in daily refreshed distilled water during the 14‐day testing period. In other groups, 10% HP (Opalescence Treswhite) and 10% CP (Opalescence PF) were applied and surface...

Studying of cellular interaction of hairpin ‐like peptide EcAMP1 from barnyard grass (Echinochloa crusgalli L.) seeds with plant pathogenic fungus Fusarium solani using microscopy techniques
Summary An interaction of recombinant hairpin‐like cationic peptide EcAMP1 with conidia of plant pathogenic fungus Fusarium solani at the cellular level was studied by a combination of microscopic methods. EcAMP1 is from barnyard grass (Echinochloa crusgalli L.), and obtained by heterologous expression in Escherichia coli system. As a result, a direct relationship between hyphal growth inhibition and increasing active peptide concentration, time of incubation and fungal physiological condition has been determined. Dynamics of accumulation and redistribution of the peptide studied on fungal cellular cover and inside the c...
