Assessment of the macula and choroid in pediatric keratoconus patients
ConclusionsWe may conclude that keratoconus does not affect the CMT and CT of pediatric keratoconus patients, and we may propose that we do not need a correction for this group of patients when we need to evaluate the CMT and CT. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)

Intra-correlations between cataract density based on Scheimpflug image, phacodynamics, surgery duration, and endothelial cell loss after phacoemulsification
ConclusionA positive correlations were observed between Scheimpflug-measured lens density with phacodynamic parameters, surgery duration, and endothelial loss. A strong correlation was observed between the degree of endothelial cell loss and phacodynamic parameters but not with the length of the procedure. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)

The real life data of ranibizumab use among the diabetic macular edema patients in Turkey: Documenting the improvement with clinical optimization during three consecutive years
ConclusionsIt is effortful to obey the strict follow-up criteria of prospective studies in DME patients on a PRN regimen. However, optimizing the clinical processes of patient management may lead to improved clinical outcomes in real life. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)

Corneal deposits following topical moxifloxacin use
In this report, we describe the first case of corneal deposits following the use of preservative-free topical moxifloxacin 0.5% eye drops in a 26-year-old male with keratoconus who underwent a unilateral corneal cross-linking. Increased frequency and prolonged instillation of moxifloxacin eye drops led to corneal precipitation in this patient. Complete resolution of corneal deposits occurred four months after drug discontinuation without sequelae. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)

The use of one muscle recession for horizontal strabismus
ConclusionSingle muscle strabismus surgery to correct horizontal strabismus had a variable outcome. Larger recession may help in achieving better outcomes. Properly designed prospective studies may help in identifying the factors affecting the outcomes of single muscle strabismus surgeries. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)

Clinical, radiological and histopathological characteristics of surgically removed orbital hematic cysts: A case series
Conclusion Hematic cyst is a challenging clinical diagnosis that can be aided by radiological examination and histopathological confirmation. Trauma does not seem to play a major role while presence of a pre-existing vascular lesion with spontaneous hemorrhage may be an etiologic factor. Associated cholesterol granuloma is an interesting controversial finding. Surgical intervention is curative with possible persisting motility disturbance and/or the eye deviation and worse prognosis in post-traumatic cases. (Source: Saudi Journal of Ophthalmology)
