Parameters of the center of pressure displacement on the saddle during hippotherapy on different surfaces
Conclusion: Postural control, measured by the COP displacement, undergoes variations in its amplitude as a result of the type of floor surface. Therefore, these results reinforce the importance of the choice of floor surface when defining the strategy to be used during hippotherapy intervention. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Association between respiratory and postural adaptations and self-perception of school-aged children with mouth breathing in relation to their quality of life
Conclusions: Respiratory and postural adaptations increased the chances of individuals persisting with mouth breathing. Additionally, these adaptations could be associated with mouth breathers' self-perceived quality of life. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Association among measures of mobility-related disability and self-perceived fatigue among older people: a population-based study
Conclusion: Our results suggest that there is an association between self-perceived fatigue and lower extremity function, usual gait speed and activity limitation and participation restriction in older adults. Further cohort studies are needed to investigate which physical performance measure may be able to predict the negative impact of fatigue in older adults. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Is there a relationship between complaints of impaired balance and postural control disorder in community-dwelling elderly women? A cross-sectional study with the use of posturography
Conclusions: Posturography did not show any differences between the groups; however, the timed single-leg stance allowed the authors to observe differences in postural control performance between elderly women with and those without complaints of impaired balance. Effects of exercise training on stress-induced vascular reactivity alterations: role of nitric oxide and prostanoids
Conclusions: Exercise-induced vascular adaptive response involved an increase in endothelial vasodilator prostaglandins and nitric oxide. Stress-induced vascular adaptive response involved an increase in endothelial nitric oxide. Beside the involvement of the endothelial nitric oxide pathway, the vascular response of trained/stressed rats involved an additional mechanism yet to be elucidated. These findings advance on the understanding of the vascular processes after exercise and stress alone and in combination. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Effectiveness of hip muscle strengthening in patellofemoral pain syndrome patients: a systematic review
Conclusion: Hip muscle strengthening is effective in reducing the intensity of pain and improving functional capabilities in patients with PFPS, despite the lack of evidence for its ability to increase muscle strength. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

The relationship between dual-task and cognitive performance among elderly participants who exercise regularly
CONCLUSIONS: The use of the TUG-DT to assess cognition is promising; however, the use of more challenging cognitive tasks should be considered when the study population has a high level of education. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Kinesio Taping effects on knee extension force among soccer players
Conclusion: KT did not affect the force-related measures assessed immediately and 24 hours after the KT application compared with Micropore application, during maximal isometric voluntary knee extension. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Balance, gait, functionality and strength: comparison between elderly fallers and non-fallers
CONCLUSION: Fallers have reduced lower limb strength, gait alterations, the worst performance in the dynamic balance test, and an increased risk of falls. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Validation and reliability of a modified sphygmomanometer for the assessment of handgrip strength in ParkinsonĀ“s disease
CONCLUSIONS: The MST exhibited adequate validity and excellent reliability and is, therefore, suitable for monitoring the handgrip strength in PD. However, if the goal is to compare the measurements between examiners, the authors recommend that the data be interpreted with caution. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Lower limb muscle strength is associated with functional performance and quality of life in patients with systemic sclerosis
Conclusions: Patients with SSc exhibited reduced respiratory muscle and quadriceps strength and an increase in its fatigability. In these individuals, there was a relationship between quadriceps strength, functional capacity, and quality of life. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)

Lower limb ice application alters ground reaction force during gait initiation
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that although caution is necessary when performing activities that require good gait control, the application of ice to the ankle, sole of the foot or calf in 30-minute intervals may be safe even preceding such activities. Are 30 minutes of rest between two incremental shuttle walking tests enough for cardiovascular variables and perceived exertion to return to baseline values?
Conclusion: 30 minutes of rest between two ISWTs are not enough for all cardiovascular variables and perceived exertion to return to baseline values. However, this period appears to be sufficient for blood pressure and performance to recover in most subjects. (Source: Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia)
