This article discusses History ’ s role in Psychoanalysis as well as its possible consequences within analytical theory and praxis. First, we turn to two Freudian texts that provide paradigmatic notions about History: Moses and Monotheism and Constructions in Analysis, in order to emphasize Freud ’ s different notions of History. It is demonstrated how the psychoanalytical notion of History can allow us to rethink concepts such as truth and materiality. The hero in Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis: revolution and subversion
This study unfolds the meanings of hero according to the transformations of analytical metapsychology. From this, it brings two dimensions of the hero regarding the destinies of the subject inside civilization and its discontents: revolution, which is launched to a transformation in social bonds, but promotes the maintenance of the Father ’ s place; and subversion, which advances in an act that produces changes regarding the symbolic and imaginary coordinates that determines the subject. This study aims to discuss the relevance of this criticism in light of examples gathered from behavior-analytic literature. By analyzing researches about the formation of “ self ” , “ insight ” and language, we argue that “ complexity ” was imported to behavior-analytic laboratories as well as it flourished in numerous fields of research of radical behaviorism tradition.
