Permanent tooth agenesis in individuals with non ‐syndromic Robin sequence: a systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionIndividuals with ns‐RS have high prevalence rates of permanent tooth agenesis. The most prevalent tooth agenesis patterns are bilateral symmetric tooth agenesis, most commonly agenesis of both mandibular second premolars. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Ankyloglossia as a risk factor for maxillary hypoplasia and soft palate elongation: A functional – morphological study
ConclusionsRestricted tongue mobility was associated with narrowing of the maxillary arch and elongation of the soft palate in this study. These findings suggest that variations in tongue mobility may affect maxillofacial development. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Accuracy and reliability of landmark ‐based, surface‐based and voxel‐based 3D cone‐beam computed tomography superimposition methods
ConclusionsSurface‐based and voxel‐based superimposition methods using the anterior cranial base as a reference structure were accurate and reliable in detecting changes in landmark positions when superimposing. Landmark‐based superimposition method was reliable but less accurate than the other methods. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Effects of pre ‐surgical nasoalveolar moulding on maxillary arch and nasal form in unilateral cleft lip and palate before lip surgery
ConclusionsThese findings indicate that PNAM for infants with UCLP enhanced symmetry in the maxillary alveolar arch and nasolabial form. In addition, the posterior movement of the anterior points of the maxillary alveolar arch was correlated with the improvement of columella deformation. Early post ‐natal development of the mandibular permanent first molar in infants with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate
ConclusionsMaturation of the first mandibular molar is delayed in both genders, and FW and CW were reduced in UCCLP compared to controls. Maturation was correlated with FW. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Morphometric analysis of the maxillary root apex positions according to crowding severity
ConclusionsMaxillary arch from at the level of the maxillary apices only shows minor differences between crowded and non‐crowded dentitions. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Longitudinal dental maturation of children with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate: A case ‐control cohort study
ConclusionNo difference in dental maturation between UCLP and controls in the 9‐ to 13‐year‐old group was found. However, there was diametrical difference in dental maturation in the 5‐ to 9‐year‐old group, which attenuated as they grew older. There was a consistently higher risk of asymmetrical tooth formation in children with UCLP than in controls. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Centre ‐level variation in treatment and outcomes and predictors of outcomes in 5‐year‐old children with non‐syndromic unilateral cleft lip treated within a centralized service: the Cleft Care UK study. Part 6: summary and implications
ConclusionsFurther improvements to and monitoring of the current centralized model of care are required to ensure the best outcomes for all children with cleft lip and palate. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)

Centre ‐level variation in speech outcome and interventions, and factors associated with poor speech outcomes in 5‐year‐old children with non‐syndromic unilateral cleft lip and palate: The Cleft Care UK study. Part 4
ConclusionsWithin the centralized service there is centre‐level variation in secondary speech surgery, intervention and speech outcomes. These findings support the importance of early management of fistulae, effective management of velopharyngeal insufficiency and hearing impairment, and most importantly speech intervention in the preschool years. Parental concern about speech is a good indicator of speech status. (Source: Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research)
