Clinicopathologic heterogeneity in frontotemporal dementia and parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17 (FTDP ‐17) due to microtubule‐associated protein tau (MAPT) p.P301L mutation, including a patient with globular glial tauopathy
ConclusionsThis clinicopathologic study shows inter‐ and intra‐familial clinicopathologic heterogeneity of FTDP‐17 due to MAPT p.P301L mutation, including GGT in one patient. (Source: Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology)

Heat shock protein expression in cerebral X ‐linked adrenoleukodystrophy reveals astrocyte stress prior to myelin loss
ConclusionsThe finding that astrocytes show signs of cellular stress before demyelination suggests that they play a major role early in the pathogenesis of cerebral X‐ALD, and may therefore be involved in the initiation of inflammation and demyelination. This article is protected by copyright. Evidence of early defects in Cajal Retzius cell localisation during brain development in a mouse model of dystroglycanopathy
ConclusionsThese observations identify Cajal Retzius cell mislocalisation as an early event during the development of cortical defects thereby identifying an earlier onset and more complex pathogenesis than originally reported for the secondary dystroglycanopathies. Overall this study provides new insight into central nervous system involvement in this group of diseases. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
