Impact of mindfulness based stress reduction on sperm DNA damage
This study aimed to analyze how mere a simple lifestyle change can bring about balance in seminal oxidative stress parameters and related consequences in next generations.MethodsOut of 126 fathers of children with non-familial sporadic heritable Retinoblastoma (NFSHRb), 102 were randomized into 2 groups i.e. MBSR group and Non-MBSR group. Parameters of seminal oxidative stress (OS) and oxidative DNA damage (ODD) were measured at baseline (0 day) and after 4 weeks in both groups.ResultsThere was significant decrease (p < 0.0001) in mean reactive oxygen species (ROS), DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and 8-hydroxy-2′-...

Frequency of Histopathological changes in gall bladder mucosa associated with gallstones
In this study carcinoma is usually present with pigment type gallstone.DiscusionMost of the gall stones having rough surfaces which causing continuous irritation in the mucosa of gall bladder. Continuous presence for the long time period of gall stones ultimately causes the series of histopathological changes in gall bladder. (Source: Journal of the Anatomical Society of India)

Metacarpal lengths & ratios as a marker of sexual dimorphism in population of Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. A radiological study
This study was designed to compare and detect possible differences between the metacarpal length (MCL) and all metacarpal length ratios in left - and right hands of female and male individuals of Haryanvi and J&K populations.Materials and MethodsMetacarpal lengths (MCL) of 143 subjects were measured after obtaining X-ray of both the hands, followed by calculating the ratio of each digit to the others (1MCL:2MCL, 1MCL:3MCL, 1MCL:4MCL, 1MCL:5MCL, 2MCL:3MCL, 2MCL:4MCL, 2MCL:5MCL, 3MCL:4MCL, 3MCL:5MCL, and 4MCL:5MCL).ResultsAll the metacarpals can arranged according to their mean digit lengths in increasing order there to obta...

Rare anatomical variations in paranasal sinuses
Publication date: December 2017Source: Journal of the Anatomical Society of India, Volume 66, Issue 2Author(s): Serdar ArslanAbstractParanasal sinuses are known to demonstrate large anatomical variations. The hypoplasia or aplasia of paranasal sinuses is a rare clinical condition referring mainly to the frontal and maxillary sinuses. The combined aplasia of sphenoid, frontal and maxillary sinuses with the hypoplasia of ethmoid sinuses are overly among rarely encountered entities. Here, we present a 38-year-old woman without any syndromes or skeletal disease, combining the aplasia of sphenoid, maxillary and frontal sinuses ...

A morphometric study of predictors for sexual dimorphism of cervical part of vertebral column in human foetuses
DiscussionBoth transverse diameter and height of cervical vertebrae (C3–C7) shows sexual dimorphism in third trimester. Between these two parameters, transverse diameter the vertebral canal of the cervical region proves to be a better indicator of gender. (Source: Journal of the Anatomical Society of India)

Patterns of patellofemoral articular cartilage wear in Japanese cadavers
We examined 46 patellae and matching femurs from 23 Japanese cadavers. The wear location was transcribed to gridded templates, that were compared for frequency, gender, and sidedness of wear.ResultsOver 60% of the patella showed wear in the odd facet, the middle part of the medial facet, and the medial aspect of the middle part of the lateral facet. The distal femur showed common areas of wear in the posterior aspect of the medial femoral condyle and anterior aspect of the medial femoral condyle. Patella wear may differ with gender as male’s wear was more compact. Although the patella and femur wear area was similar betw...
