Bond Strength of Resilient Lining Materials to Denture Base Resin: A Systematic Review and Meta ‐Analysis
ConclusionsThe efficacy of surface treatments varies depending on the resilient lining materials and the test type. More successful results can be achieved by selecting the appropriate surface treatment according to the type of the resilient lining material to increase the bond strength. In particular, when used alone, laser appears to be more effective. Chemical agents and laser are the most effective surface treatments for both silicone ‐ and acrylic‐based liners. Moreover, new studies are required to determine the efficacy of CoJet. These findings should help clinicians select a suitable surface treatment to increas...

A Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing Zirconia and Metal ‐Ceramic Three‐Unit Posterior Fixed Partial Dentures: A 5‐Year Follow‐Up
ConclusionsZirconia FPDs exhibited the same survival rate (100%) as MC FPDs after 5 years; however, the success rate was 80%, because an increased rate of chipping was observed in zirconia restorations. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontics)

Managing Gag Reflex during Removable Partial Denture Treatment: A Review and a Clinical Report
AbstractA gag reflex is a common occurrence during dental procedures. A hypersensitive gag reflex is less frequently encountered and may prevent the dental provider from successfully completing critical clinical stages, resulting in poor treatment outcomes. Once patients suffer an unpleasant gag reflex experience in a dental office, they may become phobic, delaying or postponing their dental treatment. The purpose of this article is to review available treatment options and present a report of a partially edentulous patient with an exaggerated gag reflex, focusing on clinical management using a simple yet effective table s...

Does the Translucency of Novel Monolithic CAD/CAM Materials Affect Resin Cement Polymerization with Different Curing Modes?
ConclusionsLower depth of cure was observed as the amount of transmitted light decreased in the investigated materials. In clinical practice, light ‐cured resin cements may result in inadequate polymerization for ceramic materials with lower TP values. Zirconia‐reinforced lithium silicate and nanoceramic resins may be reliable restorative materials for a restoration with both optimal esthetics and sufficient mechanical strength resulting fr om proper polymerization. Suitability of a Mobile Phone Colorimeter Application for Use as an Objective Aid when Matching Skin Color during the Fabrication of a Maxillofacial Prosthesis
ConclusionsA mobile phone colorimeter application would be a suitable aid in objectifying the process of color matching a silicone maxillofacial prosthesis. Further investigation into image calibration to improve trueness and the control of variables such as background noise, uniformity of illumination, and measuring distance is required. The Impact of Nicotine and Cigarette Smoke Condensate on Metabolic Activity and Biofilm Formation of Candida albicans on Acrylic Denture Material
ConclusionNicotine and CSC up to certain concentrations caused increases in biofilm formation, metabolic activity, viability, and planktonic cell absorbance ofC. albicans. This in vitro study demonstrates the effectiveness of tobacco on promoting the growth ofC. albicans and suggests their potential contributing factor inC. albicans biofilm related infections in smokers. The Influence of Age, Gender, Mandibular Bone Height, Previous Experience with Prostheses, and Fabrication Methods on Masticatory Performance of Complete Denture Wearers
ConclusionsConsidering the limitations of this study, it was concluded that gender might be considered a risk factor for masticatory performance of CD wearers. Female patients demonstrated reduced masticatory performance in comparison to male patients. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontics)

Effect of Aging Time and Thickness on Low ‐Temperature Degradation of Dental Zirconia
ConclusionA thinner Y ‐TZP specimen was likely to present surface defects and microcracks after aging. In addition, the flexural strengths decreased with a decrease in the thickness, a notable fact for further studies. (Source: Journal of Prosthodontics)
