Parents’ awareness and perception of children's eye diseases in Nigeria

Diagnostic capability of retinal thickness measures in diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Conclusions The GCC FLV can differentiate individuals with diabetic neuropathy from healthy controls, while the inferior RNFL thickness is able to differentiate those with greater degrees of neuropathy from those with mild or no neuropathy, both with an acceptable level of accuracy. Optical coherence tomography represents a non-invasive technology that aids in detection of retinal structural changes in patients with established diabetic neuropathy. Further refinement of the technique and the analytical approaches may be required to identify patients with minimal neuropathy. (Source: Journal of Optometry)

A systematic review of controlled trials on visual stress using intuitive overlays or colorimeter
Publication date: Available online 11 July 2016 Source:Journal of Optometry Author(s): Bruce J.W. Evans, Peter M. Allen Claims that coloured filters aid reading date back 200 years and remain controversial. Some claims, for example, that more than 10% of the general population and 50% of people with dyslexia would benefit from coloured filters lack sound evidence and face validity. Publications with such claims typically cite research using methods that have not been described in the scientific literature and lack a sound aetiological framework. Notwithstanding these criticisms, some researchers have used more rigo...

Evaluation of Goldmann applanation tonometry, rebound tonometry and dynamic contour tonometry in keratoconus
Conclusions DCT has overestimated but RT has underestimated IOP readings according to GAT measurements in keratoconic corneas. DCT may be the most appropriate tonometer to use in keratoconus for the measurements of IOP, because DCT do not appear to be dependent upon CCT and CR. (Source: Journal of Optometry)
