Clinical Insights Into the Biology and Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer [Clinical Reviews]
Pancreatic cancer is a devastating disease with a universally poor prognosis. In 2015, it is estimated that there will be 48,960 new cases of pancreatic cancer and that 40,560 people will die of the disease. The 5-year survival rate is 7.2% for all patients with pancreatic cancer; however, survival depends greatly on the stage at diagnosis. Complications Associated With Use of Long-Term Central Venous Catheters Among Commercially Insured Women With Breast Cancer [Original Contributions]
Conclusion: Although long-term CVCs may have benefits, they are associated with increased morbidity. Regional and health plan variation in long-term CVC insertion suggests that some of their use reflects provider- or institution-driven variation in practice. Evidence-based guidelines and tools may help decrease discretionary use of long-term CVCs. (Source: Journal of Oncology Practice)

Oral Anticancer Medication Adherence, Toxicity Reporting, and Counseling: A Study Comparing Health Care Providers and Patients [Original Contributions]
Conclusion: This study highlights disparities in patient and HCP perceptions of OACM adherence principles and toxicity reporting. Opportunities for improved patient education are identified, particularly around reporting significant toxicities. Clinical Trial Participants With Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Differ From Patients Treated in Real-World Practice [Original Contributions]
Conclusion: Patients with mRCC treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors in real-world clinical practice are sicker than those enrolled onto pivotal clinical trials, and more than one third are trial ineligible. Application of clinical trial findings to dissimilar populations may result in patient harm. Clinical research with more inclusive eligibility criteria is needed to appropriately guide real-world practice. (Source: Journal of Oncology Practice)
