Changes in pulmonary artery systolic pressure correlate with radiographic severity and peripheral oxygenation in adults with community ‐acquired pneumonia
ConclusionsChanges in PASP strongly correlated with radiological severity of CAP and PaO2. During pneumonia, PASP appeared increased without significant change in left ventricular filling pressures. This suggests that disease‐related changes in lung tissue caused by pneumonia may easily and reproducibly be assessed using conventional noninvasive bedside diagnostics such as echocardiography and arterial blood gas analysis. Is real ‐time elastography helpful to differentiate acute from subacute deep venous thrombosis? A preliminary study
ConclusionVenous thrombus hardens with age; however, elastography pattern on RTE, in its present form, may not be able to differentiate acute DVT from subacute DVT. (Source: Journal of Clinical Ultrasound)

Double ‐outlet left ventricle with a bicuspid pulmonary valve and aortic coarctation
Abstract A double‐outlet left ventricle (DOLV) is a rare congenital cardiac malformation. Here, we describe a case of DOLV with bicuspid pulmonary valve, aortic coarctation, and a subpulmonary ventricular septal defect in which both ventricles were well developed. The anatomic features were observed with echocardiography, and the diagnosis was confirmed at surgery. Many variations of DOLV have been described. The features of our case expand the spectrum of this entity and may provide new insight into its complex anatomy. (Source: Journal of Clinical Ultrasound)

Vector flow imaging techniques: An innovative ultrasonographic technique for the study of blood flow
ABSTRACT Doppler ultrasonography is routinely used to identify abnormal blood flow. Nevertheless, conventional Doppler can be used to determine only the axial component of blood flow velocity and is angle dependent. A new method of multidimensional angle‐independent estimation of flow velocity, called Vector Flow Imaging (VFI), has been proposed. It quantitatively evaluates the true velocity vector's amplitude and direction at any location into a vessel and displays a more intuitive depiction of the flow movements. High frame rate VFI, based on plane wave imaging, allows a detailed dynamic visualization of complex flow b...

Detection of peripheral embolic consolidations using contrast ‐enhanced ultrasonography in patients with no evidence of pulmonary embolism on computed tomography: A pilot study
ConclusionsDespite the lack of definite confirmation of peripheral and central PE on CT, peripheral pleural consolidations with no or inhomogeneous enhancement on CEUS, in combination with the risk profile for a PE, are highly suggestive of EC. If there is still some doubt, histologic confirmation is important to confirm EC and exclude malignancy. Thus, CEUS may close a potential diagnostic gap of small peripheral PE on CT. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Clin Ultrasound, 2017 (Source: Journal of Clinical Ultrasound)
