Mobile Left Atrial Mass – Clot or Left Atrial Myxoma
We report a case of a left atrial mass in a middle age male patient having past history of closed mitral commissuro to my presented with mitral stenosis and atrial fibrillation. On transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) a round mass appeared freely mobile in left atrium but did not prolapse between the mitral leaflets due to the tightly stenosed valve orifice. In the presence of mitral stenosis, atrial fibrillation and dilated left atrium, the appearance of the mass was like mobile thrombus but possibility of left atrial myxoma cannot be ignored. Consequently, the patient was referred for surgical treatment and the mass remo...

Alterations in Some Oxidative Stress Markers in Diabetic Nephropathy
Conclusion: The results of present study suggested that oxidative stress increases in diabetic patients. Further micro albuminuria accelerates the oxidative stress in these patients and hence could be responsible for the phathophysiology of various vascular complications. Larger studies need to be undertaken to substantiate the above mentioned findings. Keywords:Diabetic nephropathy,Glutathione (GSH),Malondialdehyde (MDA),Micro albuminuria,Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)View:PDF (127.42 KB)Full TextClick here to download the PDF file.‹ Risk factors for Complex and Severe Coronary Artery Disease in Type 2 Diabetes MellitusNegat...

Syphilitic Bilateral Coronary Artery Ostial Stenosis Presenting as Acute Coronary Syndrome
We report a case of a 41-year male patient admitted due to acute coronary syndrome presented as unstable angina. Coronary angiography showed a 100% ostial lesion of left main coronary artery and 90% occlusion of the right coronary artery ostium. Subsequent Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) scan showed prominent thickening of the aortic wall. The Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) test was titrated to 1/16. The patient was referred for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG).Keywords:Acute coronary syndrome,Computed Tomography Angiography,Coronary Angiography,Coronary ostial stenosis,Left main coronary artery,right...

Relation of Echocardiographic Parameters to Outcome of Patients with Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock
Conclusion: Diastolic dysfunction was common and a major predictor of mortality and outcome in severe sepsis and septic shock and was well correlated with APACHE-II score. Present study favors to use echocardiography as an ideal monitoring, tool in the septic patient for goal-oriented therapy for better outcome.Keywords:APACHE-II score,Echocardiographic parameters,Myocardial dysfunction,Sepsis,Septic shockView:PDF (984.59 KB)Full TextClick here to download the PDF file.‹ Comprehensive Approach to Congenital Heart DefectsPredictors of Illness Perception in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery › (Source: Jo...

Predictors of Illness Perception in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
Conclusion: Fortunately in this study the majority of samples had desirable illness perception. Illness perception can affect the patients ’ adaptation with their illness and their treatment adherence after CABG. Thus, interventions to promote understanding of the disease appear to be necessary. Keywords:coronary artery bypasses Illness,Patients, perceptionView:PDF (120.82 KB)Full TextClick here to download the PDF file.‹ Relation of Echocardiographic Parameters to Outcome of Patients with Severe Sepsis and Septic ShockRisk factors for Complex and Severe Coronary Artery Disease in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus › (Source: Jo...
