A longitudinal study on the impact of mental health internship in reducing negative attitudes of medical students towards people with mental disorders
Conclusions Mental health internship was related to a decrease in negative attitudes towards PMI. Personal contact seems to influence this improvement. We believe that the reduction of fear toward PMI is more powerful to reduce stigma than the acquisition of knowledge about its natural causes. More studies with a regionally distinct population in Brazil and aimed to measure the impact of fear are necessary to confirm this hypothesis. (Source: Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria)
