Underreporting of Death Certification in a University Teaching Hospital – A Hospital Based Study in Ireland
Conclusions While the actual cause of death was accurately completed in the death certificates reviewed in this audit, the majority of certificates in both age groups omitted one or more important comorbidity. Relationships of Age and Gender with Ankle-brachial Systolic Pressure Index and Cardio-ankle Vascular Index in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus
Conclusion In male and female patients with diabetes, ABI was not associated with CAVI. Age was related more strongly with CAVI than with ABI. Thus, CAVI is thought to be a more reliable marker than ABI for atherosclerotic progression in patients with diabetes. (Source: International Journal of Gerontology)

The Existence of Obesity Paradox and Effect of Obesity on In-Hospital-Outcomes on Elderly Patients Treated with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Conclusion In our study, obesity was associated with better coronary flow after percutaneous coronary intervention and the number of lesions was lower in obese patients compared to non-obese elderly patients treated for STEMI. Our results were consistent with the phenomenon of “the obesity paradox”. (Source: International Journal of Gerontology)

Comparison of Mallampati scores and hemodynamic responses between elderly and younger patients: Prospective cohort study
Conclusion After intubation, the changes in SBP, MAP and DBP, Mallampati score, and intubation time were higher, and changes in HR were lower in elderly patients. The changes in SBP, MAP and DBP in elderly patients are associated with the changes in Mallampati score. (Source: International Journal of Gerontology)

Analysis of Clinical Factors and Mortality in Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma Patients Over or Under 80 Years of Age
Conclusion PS ≥2 may be positively associated with mortality, regardless of age. Female sex may be inversely related to mortality only in DLBCL patients aged 80 years or more, possibly due to the difference in rituximab clearance between the two study groups.
