Rapid-Growing Mycobacteria Infections in Medical Tourists: Our Experience and Literature Review
Conclusions We present series of patients with mycobacterial infections after cosmetic surgery in the developing world. This may be related to the endemic nature of these bacteria and/or inadequate sterilization or sterile technique. Due to low domestic incidence of these infections, diagnosis may be difficult and/or delayed. Consulting physicians should have a low threshold to consider atypical etiologies in such scenarios. Content of Soluble Factors and Characteristics of Stromal Vascular Fraction Cells in Lipoaspirates from Different Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue Depots
Conclusions The authors' results indicate that the abdomen may be a slight favorite over the inner thigh and knee because of its richer content of soluble factors. However, because only the difference of MMP-9 content actually reached statistical significance and because no differences in SVF characteristics were observed, a decision primarily based on other criteria appears to be justifiable. Perioperative Glycemic Control in Plastic Surgery: Review and Discussion of an Institutional Protocol
Perioperative hyperglycemia is a well-known risk factor for surgical morbidity such as wound healing, infection, and prolonged hospitalization.
